Update: 28-03-2022 | 12:12:38

Besides the care from local authorities at all levels, most businesses in Di An City provide support for workers who unfortunately contracted Covid-19 after Tet. Grassroots trade unions and enterprises are finding ways to give more help to workers while the cost of living keeps going up.

Leaders of Thien Nam Company give gifts and encourage workers at the end of the year at the company's dormitories.

Nguyen Tai Đương, Chairman of Maruichi Sun Steel Joint Stock Company (Tan Dong Hiep ward, Di An City), said that in the first months of this year, due to the complicated disease situation, while human resources are still in short supply, the company has implemented the way of disease prevention and control as before; namely, the "5K" message as prescribed by the Ministry of Health, rapid test for workers every week to screen for F0. Regarding the care regime, an infected worker is entitled to a full basic salary during the time off for at-home treatment and is entitled to an allowance of VND 500,000. Due to the increasing price of petrol, causing many difficulties for worker, grassroots trade unions and business leaders are discussing to find ways to give more support to workers.

According to Tran Ngoc Vinh, Chairman of Thien Nam Company Trade Union (Binh Thang ward, Di An City), the company currently has more than 1,000 workers working at the factory. Taking care of workers is always put on top by the company managers. After talks with workers and business managers, the grassroots trade union grasped thoughts and aspirations of workers and gradually met their needs. Therefore, at the company, there are no cases of workers quitting their jobs or lack of labor.

Although in 2021, the company was heavily affected by the Covid-19 pandemic, workers of Thien Nam Company had very high incomes. During the months implementing "three-on-site" production, the company provided food and allowances, hence their workers reached the average salary of over VND 10 million/person/month. At the end of last year, each worker was entitled to a three-month salary bonus, about VND 30 million. After Tet, the disease is still complicated, the cost of living is escalating due to the constantly rising price of petrol in the country, the company continues to provides support of 7 million VND / person to help workers overcome this tough time.

Regarding the disease prevention control work at workplace, Thien Nam Company still performs all disease prevention control stages according to the direction of the province and the Ministry of Health, namely, to keep distance at cafeteria, disinfect the workplace, factory, require workers to wear face masks. The company distributed face masks and hand sanitizers to all workers.

Tran Ngoc Vinh said: "The company is still performing rapid tests for all employees once a week. Infected workers will take a time off and then return to work after they have negative test result. During their time-off, workers receive full basic salary. If an infected case is serious, the company has its own care regime. The company still gives a support of VND1 million and the Trade Union gives VND to each F0 as before but depending on the disease level and family circumstance. Besides, for workers who suffer serious diseases, the company has a regime to visit and take care of them."

Thanks to regular meetings with employees, grasping their difficulties and desires, in recent years, the company invested in two dormitories for workers, meeting the accommodation demand of 800 workers. Tran Ngoc Vinh said, except for workers who already have their own houses, all workers of the company stay in dormitories and do not to have to rent lodging. Workers are entitled to rent-free rooms in dormitories, pay only for electricity bills. These two dormitories also have kindergartens, which is very convenient for employees. Being carefully taken care of in many aspects of life, workers at the company are assured to work better, thus in general, their lives are quite happy.

Doan Nam Le Thien, Vice Chairman of Di An City Labor Confederation, said that in meetings with workers in the area, the desire of workers is to be supported in accommodation. If enterprises do not have enough capability to build concentrated accommodation for workers, they should support worker’s rent of lodging room, give allowances for daycare of worker’s children... These wishes were sent by trade union levels to businesses to find ways to take better care of workers in the coming time.
