Chinese President Xi Jinping on May 14 met with Cambodian King Norodom Sihamoni, who is in Beijing to attend the Conference on Dialogue of Asian Civilizations (CDAC).
Xi said China attaches importance to its friendship with the Cambodian royal family and will continue supporting Cambodia to pursue development suited to its national conditions. China will also work with the Southeast Asian country to push the bilateral comprehensive strategic partnership to a new level, he said.
According to the Chinese leader, the two sides should implement the action plan for building a community of shared future for mutual benefits.
For his part, Sihamoni said the Cambodian people will stand side by side with the Chinese people.
Cambodia congratulates China on the remarkable achievements it has gained over the years, and highly evaluates the important role of Beijing in international affairs, he said.
The King added that Cambodia supports China’s Belt and Road initiative.
