Fatherland Front proves their role in social security work

Determining that social security work is a regular and important task, the Fatherland Front of Bau Bang district actively advised the Party committee and government to perform activities to take care of poor and disadvantaged people in the local community. Fatherland Front at all levels in the district, with diverse ways, has mobilized resources to support vulnerable groups affected during and after the Covid-19 epidemic.

Join hands for the poor

To uphold the spirit of mutual affection, Fatherland Front at all levels in Bau Bang district actively encouraged collectives and individuals to support the Fund for the Poor to help people living in hardship rise up and stabilize their lives.

Especially, since the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic, the Fatherland Front at all levels and its member organizations have taken many forms of quick and effective support for the disadvantaged in society so that no one is left behind.

To have funds for activities supporting the poor, Fatherland Front Committee of the district coordinated with the district People's Committee to appeal for the district's Fund for the Poor. From the beginning of 2022, Fund for the Poor of the district has mobilized and received over 113 million VND; then an amount was deducted from this fund to donate smartphones to poor students to support online learning during pandemic period.

The district Fatherland Front has also coordinated with related branches to organize gift giving to poor and disadvantaged households in the area; gave gifts to households having difficult circumstances due to the Covid-19.

Meanwhile, the commune-level Fund for the Poor mobilized until November 2022 and received over 368 million VND, with a total of 15,176/17,850 households giving the support, reaching 85%. From Fund for the Poor, the communes repaired 4 houses, visited poor patients.

From small gifts to larger support, such as building houses, are all noble and human acts of units, organizations and individuals that have joined hands to take care of the poor, help them overcome difficulties and rise up. Those are really timely and meaningful contributions while the Covid-19 context still had a heavy impact on many people and families.

To improve social security

Along with the performance of professional tasks, the Fatherland Front at all levels in the district has paid attention to ensuring social security, especially since the Covid-19 pandemic occurred and affected production activities and people's lives.

According to the district's Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, in 2022, implementing the program "The whole country joins hands for the poor so that no one is left behind", the Fatherland Front from the district to the grassroots appealed and built 8 houses of gratitude, houses of kindness, houses of great solidarity, and repaired 4 houses with a total cost of 917 million VND.

In addition, on big holidays, the Fatherland Front and mass organizations from the district to the grassroots levels gave gifts to poor households, near-poor households, households with Agent Orange/dioxin victims, disabled persons...

On the other hand, the district's Fatherland Front system also coordinated with the district Red Cross to mobilize benefactors, volunteers' clubs, mutual affection associations, volunteer kitchens... to support free meals to help poor and disadvantaged workers, patients and their family members.

In the light of being affected by the pandemic and impacts of high price fluctuations, the Fatherland Front at all levels has coordinated with businesses to directly visit and give gifts to workers living in hardship, having occupational diseases, occupational accidents.

In addition, member organizations such as Farmers' Union, Women's Union, Labour Confederation, Youth Union, Youth Federation... have coordinated with the Fatherland Front to carry out many activities to take care of the poor and disadvantaged people.

Vo Thi Kim Nghia, Head of Bau Bang District Party Mass Mobilization Board and Chairwoman of District Fatherland Front Committee, said that in the coming time, in order to effectively guarantee social security in the area, the Fatherland Front system from the district to the grassroots will mobilize resources, organizations, individuals and benefactors to promote the spirit of mutual affection, accompany the Fatherland Front and contribute to Fund for the Poor.

Thereby, to organize activities to take care of and support livelihoods for the poor, disadvantaged groups in society in order to improve material and spiritual lives for the people, ensure social security, effectively implement the goal of sustainable poverty reduction.

In November 2022, Fatherland Front Committees of the district, communes, and towns simultaneously organized the Great National Solidarity Day 2022. On this occasion, the Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front gave 20 gifts with a total value of 30 million VND to poor households.

In addition, the District Fund for the Poor donated 70 gifts with a total value of 35 million VND to poor students. Also on this occasion, the Fatherland Front of communes and townships coordinated with Party committees and authorities to give 180 gifts to poor and near-poor households with a total cost of nearly 90 million VND. Front work committees of residential areas mobilized benefactors to donate over 440 gifts to the poor with a total cost of 176 million VND.
