Flexibility and creativity enahnced to overcome the pandemic wave

Update: 08-12-2021 | 16:04:04

In recent months, when the whole province struggled against the fourth wave of the Covid-19 pandemic, good and creative ways drawn right from the practice of disease prevention control helped Binh Duong overcome the toughest period. In the new "normal" state, in addition to anti-pandemic achievements, social consensus is one of the factors that help maintain safety amidst the pandemic.

Many creative ways

Nguyen Thu Cuc, Chairman of Thu Dau Mot City People's Committee, said that in the last Covid wave, the city decided that 48 F0 cases to be treated in their lodging rooms. The grassroots medical force, Steering Committee for Covid-19 prevention control of the ward and city directly directed and closely monitored developments of the "F0 lockdown cluster", gave instructions on treatment according to the protocol of Ministry of Health. The application of treatment for asymptomatic F0 patients at lodging room initially brought good results.

Field hospitals also contribute to the fight against the disease in the province.

Meanwhile, when the province implemented social distancing, Thuan Giao ward (Thuan An city) established five mobile medical stations in five neighborhoods; requisitioned schools, offices as places for testing and treatment of F0s. The operation of mobile medical stations brought good effects to emergency work, provided timely support to the people through hotlines and Call Center 1022. When people needed medical support, members of the stations quickly arrived at the place to give first aid, advice and medicines to people. Severe cases were transferred to a higher level to avoid death. Since its establishment, mobile medical stations have organized first aid, transferred 378 severe cases, given instructions on at-home health care to 609 cases, and dispensed medicines at home to 773 people.

Meanwhile, Becamex IDC supported the province in the fight against the pandemic by building field hospital. During the fourth outbreak, Becamex IDC successfully treated more than 41,000 patients, many of which were severe and critical.

Extensive experience of anti-epidemic

The pandemic has affected people's lives, health and profoundly affected all socio-economic aspects of the province. Infections increased rapidly in a short time, far exceeded forecasts, overloaded the healthcare system and increased deaths. Dr. Nguyen Hong Chuong, Director of Provincial Department of Health, acknowledged: “During the early period of the pandemic, the direction and administration work at some levels of Party committees and authorities, especially at grassroots level, was sometimes subjective, negligent as there was no infection cases, or as the disease began to appear, some localities were in panic, confusion, passivity, loss of composure, lack of patience. The implementation of social distancing was not completely tightened; the time for taking samples for testing and returning test results was still slow, in some places there was even a delay in the data entry stage. The healthcare system, especially grassroots and preventive medicine, received attention and investment, but did not met the pandemic prevention and control requirements.

From the anti-pandemic practice in the past time, especially during the period of social distancing, Vo Van Minh, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, drawn a number of lessons learned in the fight against the disease. According to the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, first of all, it is necessary to heighten the responsibility and guiding role of the whole political system, establish a leadership apparatus, direct from the province down to the grassroots in a unified, synchronous and transparent manner; all levels and branches need to always strictly follow directions of the Central Government and be creative in accordance with the actual situation of the province; the reception, mobilization and coordination of forces must ensure the disease prevention and control. At localities, where heads of Party committees, authorities at all levels and branches closely, drastically strengthen inspection and supervision, lead, instruct the implementation, and handle situations, the disease prevention and control work will be highly effective, people feel secure as observing social distancing and disease prevention and control measures.

Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee emphasized that, in coordinating forces, there should be close collaboration between departments, branches and political organizations, especially frontline forces. The dynamism and active participation of Becamex IDC Corporation have supported the province in the construction of field hospitals, purchasing auxiliary machinery and equipment for the fight against the Covid-19. During the disease outbreak, social security in pandemic-hit areas, especially in areas where isolation and lockdown is implemented, is especially important; the improvement of accommodation conditions, encouraging the spirit of the frontline forces against the pandemic to work safely are also important.

The health authority need to take the initiative in making plans and preparing necessary conditions to immediately put treatment facilities into operation when the number of infection cases increases, and provide early treatment to reduce the number of patients becoming seriously ill and dying. This branch needs to adheres to reality, firmly grasps the situation, does well forecasting based on science to come up with appropriate and timely measures to avoid being passive by all pandemic developments. In addition, information and communication work must create social consensus.
