On December 20, Tan Uyen city’s Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee and Fatherland Front Committee organized a get-together to commemorate the 80th founding anniversary of the Vietnam People’s Army (VPA) (December 22, 1944 – December 22, 2024), the 35th anniversary of the All-People’s Defense Day (December 22, 1989 – December 22, 2024) and the 35th anniversary of the Vietnam Veterans Association's Traditional Day (December 6, 1989 – December 6, 2024).

Upholding its heroic tradition, the city’s armed forces have consistently excelled at advising local Party committees and authorities on building a robust all-people national defense and a comprehensive national defense posture closely linked with the people’s security posture, thereby strengthening the defensive zone. They have always strived to complete military and defense tasks; closely coordinated with functional agencies to firmly grasp the local situation, not to be passive or surprised by any situation.

On this occasion, Tan Uyen city held a ceremony to posthumously confer the State honorary title of "heroic Vietnamese Mother" to mother Nguyen Thi Gieng in Khanh Binh ward. The city also awarded the 30-year Party membership badge to one Party member, presented the “Vietnam Veterans Association” mementoes to five veterans. The city’s Military Party Committee commended one collective and six individuals for their outstanding achievements in fulfilling tasks in 2024.

They also visited and offered gifts to heroic Vietnamese mother Nguyen Thi Sam (born in 1936), a resident of An Long commune’s Bau Cam hamlet on the occasion of the 80th founding anniversary of the Vietnam People’s Army (December 22, 1944 – December 22, 2024) and the 35th All-People’s Defense Day (December 22, 1989 – December 22, 2024).
