Improving efficiency of using, protecting natural resources - environment

Over the past time, along with attaching special importance to managing, tapping and using the local natural resources effectively, Thuan An city gained many positive changes in environmental protection, thereby contributing to better meeting the local requirements of urban, socio-economic development.

Focusing on land management

Over the past time, Thuan An city‘s management, exploitation and use of land resources were implemented strictly and effectively. In the last 9 months of 2022, the city issued 71 decisions on recognition of land use rights and 22 decisions on land allocation and issuance of land use right certificates to the local organizations and individuals.

For the applications for land use purpose change, the city’s Division of Natural Resources and Environment registered 735 cases of conversion from agricultural land to residential land with a total area of ​​8.2 hectares; 34 cases of changing the purpose from rice land to land for growing perennial crops with a total area of ​​more than 4 hectares; 3 cases of changing the land use purpose from agricultural land to commercial - service land with a total area of ​​0.2 hectares. Since early this year, the city’s People's Committee has recovered ​​327.7 hectares of 64 local works and projects.

From now to year-end and the following years, the city will continue improving the efficiency of managing, using and promoting the value of land resources. Specifically, the city has implemented the local land statistics in 2021, continued coordinating with consultancy units to make a land use plan for 2023 while strengthening the inspection of the use of land resources, especially for organizations and works.

Effeciency of environmental protection

Thuan An city has implemented the local plan on environmental protection for the period of 2021-2025 effectively and properly. Accordingly, the city’s environmental protection and daily-life solid waste management has gradually come into order and achieved certain results, contributing to the local stable development. The inspection and examination of environmental protection in the city have been carried out in a synchronous and timely way. The compliance with the provisions of the law on environmental protection for establishments in the city has been gradually ensured, and the city’s waste treatment measures have been performed relatively well.

The solid waste management has changed positively, with clear supervision and assignment of responsibilities between the city and localities. The city’s solid waste congestion has no longer occured while spontaneous garbage points have been significantly reduced. Simultaneously, the results of the implementation of the “quarter and hamlet without waste” model have contributed to reducing waste generated. Specifically, since early this year, the city has checked and monitored the waste collection and transportation of private groups; checked and compared the balance sheet of waste delivery and receipt with Binh Duong Water - Environment Joint Stock Company.

Over the past 8 months, the city transported and treated more than 127,159 tons of domestic waste, an increase of 3.3% compared to the estimate. In addition, the city strengthened inspection of street hygiene, transportation of waste for treatment, ensuring clean collection of spontaneous garbage points on the city’s roads; organized the collection of spontaneous garbage points on the roads of the wards/communes on great holidays and Tet to ensure the requirements...

From now until year-end, the city will strengthen inspection, supervision, ensuring the clean collection of spontaneous garbage points on the city’s roads; have good coordination with all- level authorities to ensure the site appraisal that is completed under the assigned plan. In addition, the city’s Disision of Natural Resources and Environment will coordinate with the People's Committees of wards and communes to clean up streets and collect waste; coordinate with the city's Fatherland Front Committee and Division of Culture and Information in inspecting and supervising the implementation of the "quarter, hamlets without waste” model in 2022; organize such propaganda activities as hanging banners, organizing festivals in response to the 2022 “Clean up the World” campaign.
