Let the poor all have a heartwarming Tet

It is now less than a month until the 2022 Lunar New Year. In these days, all administration levels and branches in the province have been actively mobilizing resources to take care of the poor and disadvantaged people during this Tet holiday.

Meaningful Tet gifts

Recently, Fatherland Front Committee of Thu Dau Mot City has coordinated with Executive Board of Provincial Buddhist Sangha to hold a program of giving gifts to poor households in the city. This was one of many activities carried out by Fatherland Front Committee of Thu Dau Mot City to take care of disadvantaged people during the 2022 Lunar New Year. Accordingly, in order to take care of these groups on the upcoming Lunar New Year, the city's Fatherland Front Committee called for provincial Buddhist Sangha to give 600 gifts of necessities with a total value of 300 million VND to poor households.

The Provincial Red Cross mobilized Social Charity Board and Provincial Buddhist Sangha to give Tet gifts to disadvantaged people in Thu Dau Mot City.

In addition to the gifts from the Buddhist Sangha, Thu Dau Mot city also supported 10kg of rice for each poor household. Huynh Van Thanh, Head of the municipal Committee for Mass Mobilization, Chairman of the municipal Fatherland Front Committee, said: “This practical activity has contributed to encouraging and sharing difficulties of poor households, helping the poor in the area have better conditions to celebrate the traditional Tet festival. We are calling for the cooperation of the whole society to have more gifts for disadvantaged people on occassion of 2022 Lunar New Year."

To develop good results achieved by the movement "Tet for the poor and Agent Orange victims" over recent years, this year the Provincial Red Cross continues to expand this meaningful movement to its associations to jointly mobilize resources for taking care of poor households, near-poor households, households having people infected with Agent Orange, households affected by the Covid-19, policy households, Red Cross officers, members, volunteers having difficult circumstances, and other vulnerable people during the Lunar New Year 2022.

On Jan 2, the Provincial Red Cross mobilized the Social Charity Committee, Provincial Buddhist Sangha to give 500 Tet gifts to families having difficult circumstances in Thu Dau Mot City, with a total cost of 250 million VND. Accordingly, each family received a practical gift worth 500,000 VND. This was one of the first Tet gift-giving activities that the Provincial Red Cross has carried out and given to the target groups in order to bring joy to all people in the upcoming Lunar New Year. Nguyen Thi Le Trinh, Chairwoman of the Provincial Red Cross, said: "We are looking forward to the attention and support from units, organizations, businesses, benefactors to take care of the poor, vulnerable groups and will act as a link to bring love to those who need help.

Join hands to take care of the poor on Tet festival

In 2021, Binh Duong is one of the Covid-19 hot spots. The pandemic has greatly affected people's lives, especially the poor and disadvantaged people in the province. In addition to the support of the State through timely policies and regimes, all administration levels and branches in the province have also actively mobilized more resources to take care of people's lives in difficult pandemic days.

Tran Thi Kim Lan, Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial Fatherland Front, said that during the recent Covid-19 wave, units, organizations, businesses, benefactors have upheld the spirit of solidarity, mutual affection through joint activities to take care of and support people to overcome difficulties. “Currently, the traditional New Year is approaching, we hope to continue receiving the support and contributions of units, organizations, businesses, benefactors to have more meaningful gifts to share with the poor and disadvantaged in the province, so that everyone could have a happy and warm Tet", said Lan.

The Provincial Association for the Protection of People with Disabilities, Orphans and Poor Patients visited and gave Tet gifts to Huong Duong social protection center (Ben Cat Town).

Lan added that Provincial Fatherland Front - Standing Committee of the "For the Poor" Day, developed a plan and expected to give 1,202 gifts with a total cost of over 1.2 billion VND to disadvantaged children, lonely elderly people, and people with disabilities who are in social protection establishments in the province. Each gift costs 1 million VND. Fund for the gifts comes from the Provincial Fund "For the Poor".

From the support of Truong Hai Automobile Joint Stock Company, Provincial Fatherland Front Committee will also organize a delegation to visit and give gifts to people with disabilities, orphans, poor patients and blind people in the province. In addition, Provincial Fatherland Front in collaboration with Provincial Red Cross is implementing a plan to take care of the poor during the Lunar New Year 2022 with a total support of 2 billion VND funded by provincial Fund "For the poor".

Taking care of the poor during Tet is always a responsibility and concern of the Party, State, all levels and branches in the province, especially on every Tet festival. New Year's gifts encompass the love and concern of the community to the poor, and will bring a happy spring to warm many needy lives, and motivate them to rise up in life.
