On Feb. 12, Vietnam Road General Department, said new driving licenses would be issued in the northern province of Bac Ninh and the central city of Da Nang from March 2012. The Ministry of Transport approved the new form of driving license, which is produced by modern technologies to prevent counterfeiting. The new type of driving licenses will be in Vietnamese and English. Driver portraits will be printed directly on the license.

After over 18 months, the Vietnam Road General Department has completed a roadmap of granting and changing new forms of driving licenses. Only licenses that are torn or expired will be replaced by licenses of the new form.
