Phu Giao marks VRCS’s 70th anniversary

Early November 23, Phu Giao district’s Red Cross Society (RCS) held a get-together to celebrate the 70^th anniversary of Vietnam Red Cross Society (VRCS) (November 23, 1946-November 23, 2016).

At the get-together, delegates reviewed the 70-year history and development of VRSC. Over the past years, VRSC and its branches actively mobilized thousands of billions of dong from organizations and individuals to support compatriots hit by natural disasters and those with difficult circumstances via social charity programs.

Upholding the fine traditions of VRCS, the district’s RCS raised hundreds of billions of dong for hundreds of thousands of the needy. In 2016 alone, it mobilized more than VND7.9billion from organizations and individuals to support 23,942 needy cases.

On this occasion, the district’s RCS also awarded the mementoes “For the humanitarian cause” to 6 individuals, the certificates of merit of provincial RCS Chairman to 4 collectives and 17 individuals…while offering 48 scholarships worth VND500,000 each to poor-but-excellent pupils.
