Update: 17-12-2021 | 12:43:01

Amid the complicated developments of Covid-19 pandemic, province-based enterprises have been completing plans, quickly preparing the source of goods for the Tet (Lunar New Year) festival 2022 as well as provision for possible situations.

Plans to stockpile Tet goods completed

Currently, province-based traditional markets, supermarkets, trade centers and convenience stores have resumed operations under the new normal conditions. The gradual recovery of traditional and modern distribution channels has made an important contribution to providing essential food and foodstuffs at people's requirements, especially during the coming New Year and Lunar New Year festivals.

Province-based retailers said that in the previous years, from December, the prices of imported goods would tend to increase. This year, it is forecasted that the prices of many items will increase by 5-10% with market fluctuations, due to the pandemic. Therefore, goods manufacturing and distributing enterprises have been proactive to approach and sign contracts with distributors to purchase goods with stabilized prices. So far, the units have completed the preparation of goods for the year-end shopping season and the Tet (Lunar New Year) festival with criterion of ensuring adequate supplies, good quality, and stable prices.

Nguyen Thi Hong Khanh, Director of Co.opmart Binh Duong II supermarket said that in order to participate in the local market stabilization program, the supermarket has increased the amount of stockpiled goods by 30%-40% compared to last year. In addition, the supermarket has also set up business plans to cope with the situations of the pandemic such as promoting online sales, arranging suitable sales points, increasing seasonal workers, launching promotion programs..., ensuring the best shopping service for customers.

Pham Huu Chi, Director of Big C Di An supermarket said that the pandemic in 2021 was complicated and prolonged, greatly affecting economic activities. Enterprises faced many difficulties in maintaining production. Many workers lost their jobs and people's incomes in general decreased. It is expected that the people’s purchasing power in the last months of the year, especially for food, foodstuffs and essential goods for daily consumption and during the Tet festival will decrease compared to the same period last year. “After the recent pandemic, the method of purchasing goods also has many changes from in-person to online forms to avoid going to crowded places and reduce the risk of the pandemic. We will launch special promotion programs on many product groups, give incentives to customers when buying goods online…" said Mr. Chi.

This year, the Lunar New Year is about a month away from the New Year, so units producing and supplying Tet goods are expected to have enough time to stockpile goods and take the initiative to ensure quantity and quality. Leaders of supermarkets, namely MM Mega Market, Aeon Mall Binh Duong Carnary, Lotte Mart or commercial and service cooperatives, livestock farms also said that based on the developments of the pandemic, they will be proactive to set up plans to stockpile essential goods, deploy their sales plans with appropriate prices.

Being proactive in supply of goods

Binh Duong now has over 2.6 million people, so the consumption of goods on the local market is quite large. Ensuring the supply of goods, especially food and foodstuffs is one of the industry and trade sector’s top tasks. Therefore, the sector has focused on directing and urging localities, retailers and management boards of traditional markets to set up plans to ensure the supply of goods in each period and each pandemic level.

According to Nguyen Thanh Toan, Director of provincial Department of Industry and Trade, the local sector of trade and industry has worked with suppliers to review the supply and demand of goods and supply plans, ensuring the supply of goods. In addition, provincial Department of Industry and Trade has also paid special importance to breeding livestock, producing vegetables and fruits to ensure that the people's needs are fully met.

“The local sector of industry and trade has organized sales trips in rural and remote areas, continued monitoring the situation of goods market prices in localities and units to promptly cope with market fluctuations. With the above measures, the province’s retail distribution system has maintained operations in conditions to ensure safety for Covid-19 prevention-control and stabilize the prices of essential goods. In addition, retailers will also be proactive in diversifying sales forms to help people easily access to goods", said Mr. Toan.

According to provincial plan on supplying goods with stabilized prizes in 2022, the total value of stockpiled goods (excluding gasoline, medicine, masks, medical equipment for Covid-19 prevention-control, quick test biological products…) is more than VND 5.67 billion. Of the total figure, there will be more than VND 2 trillion for the period before, during and after the Tet (Lunar New Year) festival 2022. Leaders of provincial Department of Industry and Trade are focusing on working with enterprises and localities about stockpiling essential goods and implementing price stabilization as planned. Initially, they will put focus on the period before, during and after the Tet festival from December 1, 2021 to March 1, 2022), then continue deploying in the remaining months of 2022.
