Update: 17-08-2021 | 12:20:40

Early August 16, provincial People's Committee and Becamex IDC held a ceremony to put the phase 2 - area B of Thoi Hoa Covid-19 treatment facility in Ben Cat town’s Thoi Hoa ward into operation. Attending the ceremony were Nguyen Van Loi, member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of provincial Party Committee, Head of provincial National Assembly Deputy Delegation; Mai Hung Dung, member of provincial Party Standing Committee, Permanent Vice-Chairman of provincial People's Committee; Nguyen Van Hung, CEO of Becamex IDC together with leaders of Ben Cat town, departments, sectors in the province.

Improving capacity of collection and treatment for Covid-19 patients

Putting the phase 2 - area B of Thoi Hoa Covid-19 patient treatment facility with a total of 3,400 beds into operation has continued improving the local capacity of collection and treatment for Covid-19 patients on the 1st and 2nd floors. Becamex IDC is also urgently completing the areas C and D with about 7,000 beds. Thus, the entire Thoi Hoa Covid-19 patient treatment facility includes the treatment areas A, B, C and D with over 12,000 beds. After 10 days of operation, the A area of the Binh Duong No. 1 Field Hospital have collected and treated 2,240 F0 cases and there have been 580 discharged from the hospital or 20% of total. The Covid-19 treatment area at the WTC Expo Binh Duong New City has so far received 2,268 cases of F0 and there have been 1,360 discharged from the hospital or 60% of total.

Nguyen Van Loi (middle), member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of provincial Party Committee, Head of the provincial National Assembly deputy delegation inspects material facilities in the area B of Thoi Hoa Covid-19 treatment facility under Binh Duong No.1 field hospital in Ben Cat town’s Thoi Hoa ward

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Loi said that the province is organizing a large-scale Covid-19 testing program to remove F0 cases from the community for timely treatment. This is the main reason for the increase of F0 cases in recent days. However, everything is still under the control of the province. The total number of F0 cases in the province is over 40,000 cases, but the number of hospital discharges is also over 10,000. The province is striving for good treatment, accelerating the number of F0 cases discharging from hospitals…

Mr. Loi suggested that the local health sector needs to deeply learn experience from the slow removal of F0 cases from the community over the past time. The reason for the delay is that the announcement of confirmatory PCR test results was slow. The capacity of medical facilities, especially grassroots-level ones was not fully assembled. Hence, the province has requested provincial Department of Health to work with district-level health facilities and private ones with testing capacity, along with the public health system, to speed up the process of confirming PCR test results and work with Ho Chi Minh city Pasteur Institute to immediately complete relevant licensing procedures, ensuring the fastest announcement of PCR confirmation results.

Binh Duong is a locality with a large number of immigrant laborers,  so it is difficult for the province to achieve results as expected in home treatment and isolation for F0 cases. Therefore, the province continues building and expanding field hospitals to be able to achieve high efficiency in collecting and treating Covid-19 patients. Mr. Loi has also called on businesses in the province to join hands in  building field hospitals in order to have more isolation treatment areas so that the province returns temporary isolation areas at schools to functional agencies for disinfection and then hand over them to the education sector to prepare for the new school year.

Effective F0 “Filter”

In the face of the unpredictable developments of Covid-19 pandemic, provincial Party Committee and People's Committee focused on directing the urgent, resolute and synchronous implementation of solutions against the pandemic over the past time. Particularly, the province urgently set up more large-scale field hospitals to enhance the local capacity of collecting and treating Covid-19 patients. Up to now, the province has put 5 field hospitals into operation with over 21,000 beds. These are considered effective F0 "filters" to protect the community as well as people's health.

Specialist Doctor II Huynh Minh Chin, Director of Bau Bang district’s Medical Center, Director of Binh Duong No. 4  field hospital said that field hospitals in the province are built with spacious and modern material facilities, facilitating the local treatment of Covid-19 patients. Noticeably, the Binh Duong No. 4 field hospital is organized into different areas, which is very convenient for classifying patients for treatment in order to manage F0 cases closely, thereby contributing to limiting overload at hospitals for severe and critical F0 cases on the 2nd and 3rd floors.

Currently, the Covid-19 treatment area on the 2nd floor of Bau Bang district’s Health Center is focusing on treating F0 cases with underlying diseases, severe symptoms. This is the way to organize treatment activities to adapt to the current evolution of the pandemic. As of August 14, nearly 400 cases of F0 discharged from the Binh Duong No. 4 field hospital.

At the ceremony, Mr. Dung also suggested Becamex IDC’s units to actively complete the phase 3-areas  C, D of the Covid-19 treatment facility. This is considered as a standard model, an effective "filter" to prevent and control Covid-19 pandemic. It is also being studied by localities for synchronous application throughout the province.

Provincial Party Committee Secretary acknowledged proposals by leaders of Becamex IDC and said that the province will coordinate more doctors and volunteers from provinces and cities to support the Thoi Hoa Covid-19 treatment facility with more than 12,000 beds in order to have enough human resources for professional work. He also encouraged and thanked doctors and medical staff for their efforts in taking care of Covid-19 patients, reducing severe Covid-19 cases, thereby helping the local pandemic prevention and control get effective.
