Provincial Veterans Association: “Loyalty - Solidarity - Exemplarity - Innovation"

Today (October 7), the 7th provincial Veterans Congress for the 2022-2027 tenure officially took place at provincial Convention and Exhibition Center with the participation of 200 delegates representing nearly 15,500 members of the local Veterans Associations at all levels.

Participating in building grassroots political system

Tran Huu Tai, Chairman of provincial Veterans Association said that over the past 5 years, under the regular, close leadership and direction of the Party committees and authorities at all levels, and the coordination and assistance of departments, agencies and mass organizations; the direction of the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Veterans Association and the guidance of the central agencies of the Association, all officials and members of provincial Veterans Association made great efforts in overcoming difficulties, actively participating in Covid-19 prevention and control while successfully implementing the targets and tasks set out by the resolution of the 6th provincial Veterans Congress. They also maintained and promoted the nature and tradition of "Uncle Ho's soldiers", actively participated in building and protecting the Party, government, and socialist regime. Many officials and members were elected to the Party Committee level and nominated as members of the People's Council at all levels.

In addition, the movement of “veterans helping each other in reducing poverty, being good at production-business” achieved good results, reducing the rate of poor households, increasing the rate of rich households in comparison with the previous tenure. The cooperation with sectors and mass organizations got high efficiency, drawing and replicating effective and practical models. In particular, in the very difficult and fierce days of fighting against the Covid-19 pandemic, provincial Veterans Association at all levels once again upheld the quality of "Uncle Ho's soldiers" with practical actions. Thousands of members stood side by side with the people and the whole political system at the grassroots level, going to every alley, knocking on every door to mobilize people to comply with regulations on pandemic prevention and control.

Carrying out the patriotic emulation movement of "exemplary veterans", provincial Veterans Associations at all levels focused on well performing 5 main tasks. One of the important contents was to uphold the good virtues of "Uncle Ho's soldiers", actively participating in building and protecting the Party, government as well as achievements of the revolution, the people and the national unity bloc.

The results done in the last tenure came from the efforts by the association in building, strengthening, betterperforming its role of representing the legitimate rights and interests of veterans; focusing on breakthrough points, promoting the development of members, increasing the total number of members higher than the previous tenure. The association’s staff were taken care of and strengthened in the direction of refinement, compactness, step by step improving in quality, effectiveness and efficiency.

Exemplarity

Soldiers who return to daily life are always exemplary in the implementation of the patriotic movements. Some typical examples can be mentioned such as the model of "Ensuring traffic safety, order on sidewalks and roads" of the Veterans Association branch of Lai Thieu ward in Thuan An city; the "Self-managing group on security, order and traffic safety" of Ben Cat town’s Veterans Association branch; the "Rescue club to ensure traffic safety" and the "Self-management team" with 132 civilized roads and alleys of the Veterans Association branches of wards in Thu Dau Mot city...

In addition, many members donated thousands of square meters of land worth billions of VND to the local authorities for construction of building transport infrastructure facilities and public works. The vanguard of the local veterans created a pervasive effect, encouraging people to actively participate in donating land to construction of open roads and alleys in the new-style rural construction movement.

In the next tenure, provincial Veterans Association will continue promoting the nature of "Uncle Ho's soldiers"; the tradition of "Loyalty - Solidarity - Exemplarity - Innovation"; building up a strong and comprehensive Veterans Association; excellently completing all tasks. The association will also actively participate in building and protecting the Party, State, people and socialist regime, making practical contributions to building up a clean and strong local Party and government; further make the acceleration of studying and following late President Ho Chi Minh's thought, morality and style; participate in the fight against false and hostile views; proactively prevent "self-evolution" and "self-transformation" internally.

In addition, members of provincial Veterans Associations at all levels will help each other do business, improving living standards and reduce poverty sustainably; actively participate in the education of patriotism and revolutionary heroism for the young generation; effectively realize the local movements; coordinate with departments, sectors and mass organizations at all levels to well do the prevention and control of pandemics and natural disasters; continue implementing a policy of "1 focus, 3 breakthroughs"; building up a really strong association, contributing to the successful implementation of the Resolution of the 13th national Party Congress and the Resolution of the 11th provincial Party Congress.

Impressive numbers in the 2017-2022 tenure

*Every year, 99.9% of branches and 100% of grassroots organizations met the standards of successfully completing tasks, over 20% of which excellently completed tasks.

*779 officials and members participated in Party committees and People's Councils at all levels.

*2,790 veterans ‘households got loans from the Bank for Social Policies, with the total outstanding loans entrusted through the Veterans Association at over VND 56 billion.

*Mobilizing members, individuals, organizations contributed funds to building and repairing 64 "comradeship" houses with total cost of VND 3.8 billion.

 *Over 98% of veterans ‘households met the "Cultural family" standard.

 *1,646 turns of officials and members participated in the community-based Covid-19 groups; 11,696 turns of members were on duty at checkpoints, participating in logistics and providing medical support.

*Veterans Association members donated more than 19,500 square meters of land, contributed more than VND 1.5 billion and over 25,000 employees to construction of roads

  *The association mobilized more than VND 28 billion from individuals, members to support flood-hit localities, Covid-19 prevention-control and social welfare in the locality...
