Social housing projects promoted

Yesterday morning (September 23), Housing and Urban Development Investment Corporation (HUD) kicked off a project on An Sinh social housing area in Thu Dau Mot city’s Chanh My ward. The groundbreaking ceremony was attended by Nguyen Thanh Nghi, member of the Party Central Committee, Minister of Construction; Nguyen Van Loi, member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of provincial Party Committee, Head of provincial National Assembly Deputy Delegation; Vo Van Minh, Vice-Secretary of provincial Party Committee, Chairman of provincial People's Committee.

Attaching special importance to ensuring social welfare

An Sinh social housing area is the 5th project to be built in the province since early this year, making Binh Duong take the lead nationwide in construction of social housing projects in the first half of 2022. At the groundbreaking ceremony of An Sinh social housing project, Vo Van Minh, Vice-Secretary of provincial Party Committee, Chairman of provincial People's Committee emphasized that after 25 years of construction and development, Binh Duong has transformed itself from an agricultural province into a province strongly developing in industrial manufacture, urban areas and services, with industry - service accounting for nearly 97% of the local economic structure. The field of attracting domestic and foreign investment is always in the leading group of the region and the whole country.

Over the past time, despite facing many challenges, especially the impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic and unpredictable developments of the world’s economy, in general, the province’s socio-economic situation has basically recovered and continued having strong development when most of the main socio-economic targets had very positive growth, in which the local urbanization rate reached 82%.

The achievements done by the province are the joint efforts and consensus of officials, Party members, people from all strata, the business community to jointly build and maintain a favorable investment climate to call for domestic and foreign investors.

He said that accompanying and making great contributions to this development, more than a million people from other localities have chosen Binh Duong as their second hometown to live and work. However, at present, immigrant laborers in the province have still faced many difficulties in terms of accommodation. This is a problem that the province will continue focusing on solving in the near future.

He also said that with its cross-cutting goal of industrialization and urbanization that must go hand in hand with stabilizing social welfare, ensuring employees’material and spiritual lives, over the past time, in addition to attracting investment in the social housing field, Binh Duong issued many programs and plans on social housing development in order to implement the local policy of socializing construction of houses for low-income people. All have helped the province well implement the State's preferential policies on housing investment, encouraging all economic sectors to participate in construction of houses for policy beneficiaries and low-income workers. The province has also directed all-level authorities and sectors to urgently plan social housing projects into urban development plans, especially integrate them into provincial planning for the period of 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050 to ensure a stable life for employees, thereby making long-term contributions to the overall development of Binh Duong.

Demand for social housing is very great

Minister of Construction Nguyen Thanh Nghi said that with 5 social housing projects being built since early this year, Binh Duong has become one of the leading provinces in effectively implementing policies to support social housing development... Binh Duong is one of localities to effectively implement the spirit of the Resolution No.11/2022 on the socio-economic development program in 2022 and 2023. The province has also concretized the national housing development strategy for the period of 2021-2030, with a vision to 2045 approved by the Prime Minister in the Decision No. 2161/QD-TTg dated December 22, 2021.

According to Mr. Nghi, those results have shown the determination of the province in implementing the drastic directions of the Government and the Prime Minister in social housing development for low-income workers. He Nghi said that as of now, the whole country has completed 301 social housing projects for low-income people, with a total area of 7.8 million square meters with 156,000 apartments. In the coming time, the whole country will continue implementing 401 more projects, covering a total area of nearly 23 million square meters, with 455,000 apartments. These projects have shown the great efforts by relevant sectors and units, but have not yet met the huge demand for social housing for low-income workers.

According to Minister Nguyen Thanh Nghi, following the direction of the Prime Minister at a conference on promoting social housing projects for low-income people in urban areas and workers in industrial zones, the Ministry of Construction has completed and submitted a project on building at least 1 million social housing apartments for low-income people and workers in industrial parks for the period of 2021-2030 to the Prime Minister for approval.

Mr. Nghi emphasized that over the past years, Binh Duong province continued being the country’s bright spot in socio-economic development, ensuring national defense-security, social welfare and is also a top locality in social housing development. In the period of 2011-2020, Binh Duong province developed 40 social housing projects with about 60,000 apartments, providing accommodations for about 200,000 people. This positive result has greatly contributed to caring for the whole country’s social welfare...

“On behalf of the Ministry of Construction, I speak highly of the efforts by all-level Party organizations and authorities of Binh Duong province in taking care of and ensuring social welfare as well as implementing policies on social housing development for low-income people ... ", Minister Nguyen Thanh Nghi said.

An Sinh social housing project has a fairly large scale, including six 12-storey apartment blocks with a total floor area of about 83,000 square meters, on a land area of about 2.7 hectares. The project has a very convenient location, located in the overall urban area of 151 hectares in the phase 1 of the Housing and Urban Development Investment Corporation with many park items, cultural and social works in the center of Thu Dau Mot city - the economic and political center of Binh Duong province while being a densely populated area near large industrial parks, roads passing through Ho Chi Minh city’s Cu Chi district and other neighboring localities.
