Vietnam’s Son Doong, the world’s largest cave, will be at the heart of a campaign to promote the country’s tourism in Singapore by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MCST) during the 28th SEA Games from June 5-16.
MCST Minister Hoang Tuan Anh scheduled a meeting with the Singaporean Minister of Trade and Industry during the regional sporting event to discuss the future cooperation in tourism between the two nations.
The Vietnam National Administration of Tourism and travel agencies are using the occasion to introduce Vietnam’s top destinations to Southeast Asian nationals and athletes and to seek partnerships.
The campaign features Howard Limbert, head of the first scientific team to conduct a survey in Son Doong cave, who will give a talk on Song Doong’s tourism potential and the plan to make a film of the cave by Singapore’s Channel 5.
The SEA Games, the biggest sporting event in Southeast Asia, will see about 7,000 athletes from 11 countries in the region competing in 36 sports for 402 sets of medals this year. Tens thousands of tourists from regional countries and other parts of the world are also expected to visit Singapore during the event.
