Southern Fruit Festival 2014 opens in HCM city

The Southern Fruit Festival 2014 opened the Suoi Tien Cultural Park in Ho Chi Minh City on June 1, displaying a wide range of fruits.

The annual event hosted by the city aims to honor the fruits of farmers’labour and artistic fruit arrangement, contributing to preserving and upholding Vietnam’s traditional cultural identities.

A special feature of this year’s event is a floating market made of 70 boats that sell more than 180 kinds of special fruits at prices 20-40 percent lower than market prices. This activity will take place during the summer. During the festival, a safe and delicious fruit contest will be also held with many kinds of special fruits from 21 provinces and cities.

At the opening ceremony, visitors had a chance to enjoy art performances reappearing the images of the national great unity bloc.

It is known that among booths featuring kinds of special fruits at the festival, there are 4 from Binh Duong.
