A ceremony to kick off the Vietnam-Japan U13 international football tourney was organized yesterday morning, December 20 in Binh Duong new city. This the second year the tourney has been held and it also aims to mark the 46th anniversary of Vietnam-Japan diplomatic relations
The 2nd Vietnam-Japan U13 international football tourney is co-held by Becamex IDC, Becamex Bình Dương Club. Kawasaki Frontale Club and Becamex Tokyu Company. The event promises many animated matches of 8 young football teams from Japan and Vietnam, including Kawasaki Frontale, Tokyu S Reyes FC, Júbilo Iwata, Gamba Osaka, Hanoi FC, the PVF Academy, SHB Danang and Becamex Binh Duong FC.
This year’s tourney not only aims to help young football players of Japan and Vietnam exchange, but also is a playground for Vietnam’s young football players to improve their skills to be able to become professional ones in the future.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Dang Minh Hung, Vice-Chairman of provincial People’s Committee said that this was a good chance for international friends to know about Binh Duong new city that will be a smart city in the future with sci-tech development, green space…He also thanked Becamex Binh Duong Club and Kawasaki Frontale Club for selecting Binh Duong new city to host the tourney…
For his part, Japanese Ambassador to Vietnam Kunio Umeda wanted that the Vietnam-Japan U13 international football tourney will help find out more talents for football of Vietnam and Japan in the future. This is also the hope of Vietnamese football fans when “red jersey“ boys are expected to play in the World Cup 2026. Such tourneys will be very significant, contributing to training and improving Vietnam’s young football players.
It is known that the Vietnam-Japan U13 international football tourney, which is organized in Binh Duong in 2019 and the following years, will be a long plan with the goal of connecting football of Japan and Vietnam in particular, Japan and ASEAN countries in general. Especially, the event is seen as a highlight for activities towards the 50th anniversary of diplomatic ties between Japan and Vietnam in 2023.
