10 cultural, sports and tourist events of Binh Duong province in 2017

2017 was the year of many great events of the country and Binh Duong. Binh Duong province overcame many difficulties and challenges, promoted the achievements, and well organized cultural, sports and tourism activities. Here are 10 big events of the province in 2017 selected by the Department of Culture - Sports and Tourism.

1. Binh Duong hosted the second National Festival of “Don Ca Tai Tu” in 2017.

The Festival consisted of seven main activities and many subsidiary activities, of which the most prominent was the opening night art show with the theme of "Southern Don Ca Tai Tu - Southern Treasure" staged meticulously by more than 1,000 artists, professional singers, actors and the masses.

2. Flower procession parade and art performance to celebrate Binh Duong 20 years of development (1 Jan 1997 – 1 Jan 2017).

The beginning was parades of nearly 2,000 people and 20 flower carriages of blocs, districts, towns, enterprises in the province to commemorate the solidarity in the construction and development of Binh Duong province. Next was an art show with the theme "Binh Duong 20 years of glorious journey”.

3. Inauguration of the Dai Nam racecourse.

The racecourse has over 60ha, with a total investment capital of more than VND1,000 billion and accommodating about 20,000 seats. This is the first sport racecourse complex in Vietnam with the combination of five types of racing: horse racing, dog racing, motor racing, Go-Kart racing, Jet-ski and fly-board performances.

4. For the first time, Binh Duong sports delegation participated in SEA Games with the highest number of coaches, athletes and achieved top prizes. 

In the SEA Games 29, Binh Duong delegation had 1 coach and 9 athletes competing in four subjects including: Karatedo, tennis, bowling, muay. Binh Duong athlete achieved high prizes with 2 gold medals, 4 bronze medals.

5. Inauguration of Di An Town stadium.

The stadium has an area of ​​6.9 ha, accommodates 5,000 seats, investment capital of the first phase is nearly VND100 billion, consists of 19 functional rooms. This regularly organizes sports competitions and attracts between 300 and 400 people every day.

6. Binh Duong in cooperation with Saigon Tourism Company (Saigontourist) opened the river route from Ho Chi Minh City to Thu Duc.

This is one of the seven waterway routes opened by Saigontourist to serve tourists in the coming time.

7. Tan Uyen Town completed construction of Vinh Loi Warzone and hosted "Bach Dang pomelo" Festival to practically celebrate the anniversary of Binh Duong 20 years of development.

The relic site Vinh Loi war zone has a total area of ​​5.5 ha, total investment of VND100 billion, including 13 items with many functional areas and auxiliary works. To celebrate Binh Duong 20 years of development and Tan Uyen Town 3 years of establishment, the 1^st "Bach Dang pomelo" Festival 2017 was held on 7 Jan 2017 to introduce and promote local specialties to visitors.

8. North Tan Uyen district organized activities to celebrate the launching ceremony and trademark protection of Orange and Pomelo. 

National Office of Intellectual Property, Ministry of Science and Technology granted trademark registration certificate to "North Tan Uyen orange" and "North Tan Uyen pomelo". The ceremony had many activities to introduce potential, strengths and promote this brand to delegates and visitors.

9. Activities to mark the 55th anniversary of Vietnam-Laos diplomatic relation (5 Sep 1962 - 5 Sep 2017).

Units in the cultural - sports and tourism sector organized many activities of visual propaganda, culture, arts, sports, especially the contest "Learning about Vietnam - Laos special relationship’s history".

10. For the first time, Binh Duong is the President of the World Vovinam Federation.

The 2nd World Vovinam Federation Congress was held to elect the 42nd Vovinam Federation Executive Committee. Mai Huu Tin, President of Vovinam Vietnam Federation, is a Binh Duong resident, was elected as President of the World Vovinam Federation.
