10-month CPI up 2.67%

According to provincial Statistics Department, the province’s Consumer Price Index (CPI) in October 2024 decreased by 0.37% compared to the previous month, but increased by 1.89% compared to October 2023. Eight out of eleven main consumer goods and service categories saw slight increases. For example, eating and drinking services rose by 0.24% from the previous month and by 2.7% compared to October 2023. Beverages and tobacco rose by 0.38% and 0.59%, respectively; clothing, hats and footwear by 0.02% and 2.21%; housing, electricity, and water by 0.06% and 1.44%.

Overall, the province’s average CPI for the first 10 months of 2024 increased by 2.67% compared to the same period in 2023. All eleven main goods and service groups saw price increases compared to the same period last year. For example, eating and drinking services rose by 3.15%; beverages and tobacco by 0.89%; clothing, hats and footwear by 2.02%; housing, electricity, fuel and construction materials by 2.08%; household appliances by 0.69%; medicine and medical services by 7.3% and traffic by 3.04%. On average, in the first 10 months of 2024, the gold price index increased by 29.76% while the U.S. dollar price index grew by 5.07% compared to the same period in 2023.
