10 sets of martyrs’ remains collected in Binh Duong

Division 7’s Veterans’ Association under Military Zone 7, and Phu Giao district Department of Labour, War-invalids and Social Affairs in Binh Duong Province gathered 10 sets of martyrs’ remains at Nuoc Vang hamlet, An Binh commune on November 1.

A burial service was held on November 2 at the district’s martyrs’ cemetery.

Until now, all of the remains have yet been indentified. However, according to information from the association’s members, they are among 20 troops, under Regiment 209 of Division 7, who sacrificed in a fierce battle on the evening of December 24th, 1974 on their way to liberate Saigon (present HCM City). The list of these martyrs is now kept by Division 7.

Information of the 10 sets of martyr’s remains was provided by Le Van Ngon, born in 1932, a native of Nuoc Vang hamlet. Ngon said that in the evening of December 24, 1974, after fiere combat between regular troops of Regiment 209, under Division 7 and the enemy, he and two other people found 13 bodies. He wrapped two of them in each sleeping mat and buried them at a place near Nuoc Vang hamlet.

Relevant persons are actively searching for other sets of martyrs’ remains in Nuoc Vang hamlet.
