The “Day for the Poor” campaign in the province has become the annual activity with profound humanity. After 10 years of implementing the campaign, many households herein rose up out of poverty; many poor pupils enjoyed heart surgeries to further pursue their study…

 

Over the past 10 years, donors and businesses subscribed VND67.673bln and US$1,810 to provincial Funds for the Poor at all levels under the campaign. As many as 6,848 unity houses were also built with a total cost of VND50bln. In 2005, the province was recognized as a locality with completion of building unity houses and eradicating dilapidated houses for the poor, contributing to effectively realizing its hunger eradication and poverty reduction program between 2001 and 2005.

 

Businesses’ assistance has contributed to making the “Day for the Poor” campaign more significant

 

Provincial Fund for the Poor also gave more support to such social activities as building and upgrading gratitude houses, setting up charity medicine cabinets at provincial General Hospital, provincial Traditional Medicine Hospital, providing free medical check-ups and medicine for the poor…

 

In addition to taking care of the lives of poor people in the province, provincial Steering Board of the “Day for the Poor” campaign offered help to many other localities like Lao Cai, Quang Tri, Ben Tre, Ca Mau, Bac Lieu, Tien Giang, Long An, Quang Ngai, Tra Vinh, Kien Giang…to build unity houses for the poor.

 

One of the “Day for the Poor” campaign’s significant activities done over the past 10 years was the program of supporting surgeries for poor children with heart disease. With great contribution by many individuals and collectives, it was estimated that the program provided VND7.871bln for 138 heart surgeries on needy children.

 

Noticeably, many individuals and collectives made contributions to the “Day for the Poor” campaign over the past 10 years, including Thanh Le Trading-Export Import Co., Becemex IDC, Dai Nam Joint Stock Co., Binh Duong Building Material Co., Binh Duong Mineral and Construction Joint Stock Co., Dau Tieng Rubber One-Member Co.Ltd, Orion Food Vina Co., Dong An industrial park, Vu Minh Sang, provincial Party Committee Deputy Chief cum provincial People’s Council, Nguyen Bach Phuong’s family, Priest Nguyen Van Rien, two superior Buddhist monks Thich Minh Thien amd Thich Hue Thong, Nguyen Thi Nguyen, Nguyen Thi Hung…

 

With results done over the past 10 years, it is hoped that the “Day for the Poor” campaign in the province will further receive more support from businesses, individuals….so that the poor can secure a better life.
