The 13th Fun Cup international windsurfing slalom competition wrapped up at Mui Ne beach in the central coastal province of Binh Thuan on February 4 after two days of competition.

The tournament attracted 25 windsurfers, including three women, from France, Russia, Singapore, Japan, Australia and Vietnam.

They were divided into groups to compete in 3,000 to 4,000 metre events.

In the men’s category, Tanguy Gilles from France won first prize, and Sergei Chaika and Alexy Karachevtsev from Russia took second and third places, respectively.

In the women’s division, Lucy Odillo Maher from Australia ranked first, followed by Tran Kim Chi from Vietnam and Deborah Khoo from Singapore.

Pascal Lefebvre, head of the organizing board, said with the ideal climate and conditions in Mui Ne, the annual Fun Cup creates an excellent playground for visitors and local and foreign windsurfers in Phan Thiet City. It helps the sport in Vietnam develop and catch up to international standards, as well as providing a good opportunity for Binh Thuan to promote tourism in the province to international friends.
