13th national Trade Union congress opens

Early December 1, the first working day of the 13th Congress of Vietnam Trade Union for the 2023-2028 tenure took place at the National Convention Center in Hanoi. The congress took place for 3 days, from December 1 to 3. The 13th Congress of the Vietnam Trade Union is an important political event of the working class and the Vietnam Trade Union organization, and is an extensive political activity among officials, trade unionists and workers nationwide.

On the first working day, the congress elected the Presidium, the Secretariat and the Board of verifying the eligibility of congress delegates; approved the agenda and regulations of the congress; heard a  report on the results of verifying the qualifications of congress delegates, a report of the 12^th Executive Committee of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, a review report of the 12^th Executive Committee of the Vietnam General Confederation, a report on amending and supplementing the Charter of Vietnam Trade Union. The congress divided into 10 groups to discuss.

Speaking in the first working session of the 13th Congress of Vietnam Trade Union, Nguyen Dinh Khang, Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Party Organization of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour (VGCL), Chairman of the VGCL said that in the 2018-2023 term, the Vietnam Trade Union carried out its tasks in the context of the world and domestic situation having many difficulties compared to forecasts. The world’s situation is changing rapidly, complexly and unpredictablely, especially the negative impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic, which has affected all aspects of life, including trade unionists, workers’ jobs, incomes and lives, trade union activities. In that context, with the determination to overcome difficulties, promote tradition, dynamic and creative spirit, for trade unionists and workers, all-level trade unions continued improving operational contents and methods, proposed many policies and solutions, implemented them and basically completed the goals, targets and tasks of the Resolution of the 12th Congress of Vietnam Trade Union...

*Previously, on the morning of December 1, after visiting President Ho Chi Minh's Mausoleum, the Presidium of the VGCL offered incense at the Monument to Heroes and Martyrs on Bac Son road.
