The 20 records were given with certificates and cups. Other proposals are being researched and will be announced in the near future.
1. The city has the most rivers with more than 40 big and small rivers recognized by researchers at the end of the 20th century.
2. The city has the largest area, with a total of 3,324.92 square kilometers, including 10 urban districts, 1 town, 18 suburban districts.
3. The city has more than 4,000 historic sites and landscapes and a treasure of intangible cultural heritage. The capital also has more than 1,200 trade villages and festivals and a diversified gastronomy culture.
4. The city has the most streets and allies with their names starting with “Hang” with the figure of 50: Hang Bac, Hang Duong, Hang Ngang, Hang Ma, Hang Non, and Hang Cot...
5. The city has the oldest steel bridge, Long Bien. The construction of the bridge started in September 1898 with an investment of 10.5 million francs and was completed in February 1902. The main bridge is 1,682m and the approach one is 896m. The work consists of 19 spans on 20 piers of over 40m each (including foundation). The bridge serves trains in the center and pedestrians at two sides. Its original name was Paul Doumer, after the French governor-general who initiated its construction.
6. The historical site has the largest excavation scale: Hoang Thanh Thang Long, recognized by UNESCO for the 900th cultural heritage of human kind.
The other records include: the system of museums with the largest scale, the only place witnessing the debut of the three documents of independence declaration: the poem of “Nam Quoc Son Ha” of Ly Thuong Kiet at the second half of the 11th century, the work of “Binh Ngo Dai Cao” of Nguyen Tran at the beginning of the 15th century and the independence declaration of President Ho Chi Minh in the middle of the 20th century, the oldest citadel of Co Loa, the first College of Fine Arts: the Indochina Fine Arts College (École supérieure des beaux arts de l’Indochine)...
