2010 top sports people selected

The national track and field team has dominated the vote for 2010 awards thanks to its outstanding achievements at the 16th Asian Games (ASIAD 16).

 Sprinter Vu Thi Huong, who won a silver and a bronze at the Guangzhou games, was recognized as the most outstanding Vietnamese athletes with 1213 points, while her fellow runner, Truong Thanh Hang, came second with 1208 points.

 Karateist Le Bich Phuong, who won the only gold medal for Vietnam at ASIAD 16, was placed third and followed by the world’s number 7 badminton player Nguyen Tien Minh, track and field athlete Vu Van Huyen, chess player Le Quang Liem, weightlifter Thach Kim Tuan, shooter Ha Minh Thanh, wrestler Le Thi Lua, and swimmer Hoang Quy Phuoc.

In the poll for best coaches, Ho Thi Tu Tam (track and field ) topped the list, followed by Le Cong (Karate), Nguyen Dinh Minh (track and field), Nguyen Thi Nhung (shooting), and Lam Minh Chau (chess).

Swimmer Vo Thanh Tung, who won a gold and a silver at the 2010 Asian Para Games, was also the 2010’s most outstanding disabled athlete with 550 points. Badminton players Pham Duc Trung and Hoang Pham Thang ranked second and third, respectively, followed by Trinh Cong Luan and Le  Duc Hung who are both track and field athletes.

 Le Thuy Nga (badminton) was the best coach for disabled athletes, while Dong Quoc Cuong came second and Dang Van Phuc ranked third.
