Update: 21-03-2011 | 00:00:00

The 52nd Tien Phong Cross-country Run and Semi-Marathon Tournament took place in the Central Highland province of Dak Nong on March 20.

In the women’s semi-marathon, Pham Thi Binh from Quang Ngai won the gold medal while Nguyen Van Long (Gia Lai) won the men’s event, followed by Nguyen Truong Sinh (Gia Lai) and Dinh Quang Phuong (Lam Dong).

Nguyen Thi Bich Tram (Khanh Hoa) took the gold in the three-kilometre event for young women while the gold medals for the men’s 10-kilometre and women’s five-kilometre events went to leading runners like Nguyen Van Lai (Army team), Truong Thanh Hang (Ninh Binh), and Nguyen Dang Thanh Thuy (Khanh Hoa).

Duong Duc Thuy from the General Department of the Physical Training and Sports, said athletes usually find it very difficult to run on the rough terrain in Dak Nong.

The races are really challenging and very competitive but they motivate the athletes to do their best, Thuy said, adding that they prepared better for this year’s competition.
