2011 rice exports estimated at 7.1-7.4 million tonnes

 The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) has estimated that Vietnamese rice exports will reach 7.1-7.4 million tonnes in 2011.

According to the Vietnam Food Association, Vietnam exported more than 700,000 tonnes of rice in May, earning nearly US$330 million and bringing total rice exports over five months to about 3.3 milllion tonnes, worth US$1.564 billion.

The price of unhusked rice in the Mekong Delta region reached VND5,850-6,100 per kilo while material rice (5 percent broken and 25 percent broken) reached VND7,950-8,050 and VND7,800-7,900 per kilo, respectively.
