3-in-1 model helpful for community rehabilitation

The 3-in-1 model of the Veterans Association of Chanh Nghia Ward in Thu Dau Mot city operates with the motto of 3 veteran members participating in the conversion to help a person who has made offenses to rehabilitate to the community. The model has been of great effectiveness so far after a term of operations.

Le Tien Son, Chairman of the Veterans Association of Chanh Nghia Ward, said that identifying and helping drug addicts in the community to return is a meaningful and humane job.

“That someone is detoxified brings joy and happiness to each family. Besides, it also helps the locality to have more citizens, contributing to curbing and reducing many types of crimes, helping to stabilize the local security and order situation," said Son.

Veterans Association cooperates with the military forces of Chanh Nghia ward and forces to maintain order and security in the area.

In order to successfully implement the 3-in-1 model, the Veterans Association of Chanh Nghia Ward has cooperated with the regional police to make a list of drug addicts who often gather to play and use drugs, and arrested by the ward police and administratively fined several times. After selecting the target audience, members will be assigned to meet to find out information and approach the target and their family.

Le Viet Son said that the members selected to participate in the induction are reputable, responsible, and able to mobilize the masses and have a passion for their work. The job of persuading the wrong-doing person is not easy, especially drug addicts, so meeting, exchanging and encouraging is not always convenient. During the course of the task, the members of the team always keep a soft and persistent attitude to encourage the subject not to continue to follow the pathway of an addict. Thanks to the friendliness and closeness, the team was helped and coordinated by the subject's family. Regular call to report the situation of them and what they are doing are always available. In addition, the family also actively encourages their children and younger brothers to try to give up to avoid seeing friends who are addicted and not using drugs.

After a term of operation, the members of the model of the Veterans Association of Chanh Nghia ward have helped 4 cases of people rehabilitating to the community with great care of their families and stable jobs. The results through 4 times of sudden tests of the above people were negative to drugs.

In order for the 3-in-1 model to continue to spread, the Veterans Association of Chanh Nghia ward will actively build and effectively maintain the point models of security and order in the prevention and fight against crimes and to eliminate social evils, to strengthen the activities of inter-partisanship groups and reconciliation groups and maintain criminal denunciation mailboxes with concentration on the hostels managed by the Veterans Association. At the same time, the effectiveness of measures is improved to manage the security and order situation at the establishments to prevent those with adverse intention from taking advantage of criminal activities.
