9th national Architectural Students’ Festival helps youths show up their talent

The 9th national Architectural Students’ Festival, themed “Dat Thu flower”, included 8 exam parts such as introduction on examinees’ universities, composition of sculpture art works, mosaic from soil and pottery wastes, sketch drawing, architectural idea and so on.

The beginning part of a series of activities at the festival was the composition of sculpture art works, mosaic. The most highlighted part at the festival was architectural idea exam. This was a good chance for students to show up their talent and creation.

Cao Viet Hung, vice rector of Binh Duong University said that with the purpose of connecting traditional and modern characters as well as past and future, the organizing board took students to traditional craft villages namely Tuong Binh Hiep, or Thu Dau Mot city, Binh Duong Integrated Administration Center, Phuoc Du Long porcelain company to help them get ideas before taking the exams. Specifically, the 4 and 5-year students showed their ideas through planning and improvement of traditional craft villages in Binh Duong while the 2 and 3-year students used building materials from SCG Company to design ideas of building public restrooms and combining entertainment and gastronomy services in Binh Duong New City.

With the wish of helping students cement together in learning, the organizing board divided contestant groups into teams and groups in an attempt to help them set out ideas for topics. Ngoc Hanh, a contestant shared “Through this festival, students throughout the country learn more about Binh Duong land and people through various stages. The exam part of architectural idea helps us show up potentials and learn more about other students’ learning experiences”.

Architect Nguyen Tan Van, chairman of Vietnam Association of Architects affirmed “The 9th festival 2014 was held in Binh Duong where has many revolutionary traditions and gains successes in economic development and is considered as the province leading the whole country in developing industrial parks and new urban areas. Students enjoyed interesting experiences in this land to express their talent and creation through this festival”.

Nguyen Minh Giao, head of the provincial committee for Education and Propaganda said that Binh Duong has many famous and long-standing craft villages such as porcelain village, lacquer village, sculpture village. The festival is a healthy and useful playground to preserve and uphold traditional values of architectural industry. This is also a good chance for students and lecturers to exchange and learn mutually.
