A billionaire of forestland

Lam Thanh Tong, 70, is well-known as a good farmer in production and business at hamlet 1, Tan Hiep commune, Phu Giao district with the annual income reaching several billions of dong.

In 1988, he was still a lecture of the HCM City University. But, due to many difficulties, he decided to come to Phu Giao district’s Tan Hiep commune, where is famous as a forestland, to develop homebased business. Despite hardship, Tong and his wife managed to do business and took fruits over the past time.

 

Tong’s family now owns around 50ha of rubber trees, more than 30 ha of them are under exploitation. There are also over 1,000 apricot trees, several hundreds of pigs, rabbits and 3 fish ponds…It is estimated that his family’s total fortune amounts to at least VND10 billion. His family’s annual income from rubber latex, rabbits, pigs, fish… is about several billions of dong. He added that he now generates employments with stable income for tens of the local laborers.

 

Noticeably, he spent several hundreds of millions of dong on building a concrete path of 1 km that begins from his garden to the main road to avoid accidents caused by slippery and muddy situation when it rains.
