A civilized and affectionate Binh Duong
Amid its strong industrial growth and rapid urbanization, Binh Duong has not only affirmed its position as one of the country’s leading provinces in terms of economic development, but also steadily shaped the image of a modern, civilized and affectionate city.
Civility from simple things
In recent years, along with infrastructure development and investment attraction goals, Binh Duong has placed special emphasis on building a culture of civility and urban etiquette, considering it as a core factor for sustainable development. From central urban areas to rural districts, one can easily sense positive changes in the environment, urban order and public behavior.

Notably, civilized living is no longer a mere slogan. It has deeply permeated the awareness and actions of Binh Duong’s residents. Streets that are "bright – green – clean – beautiful" are not only the result of government investment, but also of community cooperation. People take the initiative in maintaining environmental hygiene, removing illegal advertisements, sorting waste at the source and taking care of plants in front of their homes.
Additionally, localities throughout the province have actively launched practical movements such as "Civilized Saturday" and various models like "Trash-free neighborhood", "Self-managed street" and "Cultural standard organizations, units and businesses". Many mass organizations such as the Fatherland Front, Youth Union, Women's Union and Veterans Association have also made contributions through specific, effective activities.
Vo Thi Nhu Quynh, Vice Secretary of the Party Cell of quarter 1 in Thu Dau Mot city’s Phu My ward shared: “We encourage residents to maintain cleanliness, sort waste at the source and plant trees in front of their houses. Thanks to these efforts, our neighborhood has become cleaner, more beautiful and people have grown more connected and friendly”.
Providing concrete examples of joint efforts in building a civilized lifestyle, Mrs. Quynh said that besides streets like ĐX037 and ĐX034 already known as “Trash-free, green, clean and beautiful”, quarter 1 is expanding similar models to more streets to create a new look for the neighborhood. Residents are informed and sign commitments to participate in. The waste collection plan has also been implemented by the quarter. Waste is sorted and disposed of in designated areas and the problem of indiscriminate dumping has been resolved. Each household now has a shared trash bin placed in front of the house for collection by the waste team. "Every month, I, together with the quarter management board and local residents along the street, clean up, trim tree canopies and clear weeds; every household plants flowers in front of their yards and alleys", Mrs. Quynh added.
Civility in behavior
Civility in Binh Duong is not only seen in the physical environment, but also in the way people interact with each other. On the streets, people are increasingly conscious about obeying traffic laws, not littering, avoiding smoking in public and lining up in crowded places. In markets, hospitals, schools and administrative centers, friendly smiles, polite words and helpful gestures have become more familiar.
Notably, the long-standing tradition of compassion—a distinctive cultural trait of Binh Duong’s people—continues thriving. In daily life, the movement of "Give if you can, take if you need" has become widespread, with numerous free-goods points. Models such as "Zero-dong stall", "Zero-dong market", "Loving bus", and "Workers’ meals" have strongly spread the spirit of sharing and kindness.
Moreover, Binh Duong’s sense of civility is also embodied in the love and compassion found in "houses of gratitude", "solidarity houses", and "comrade homes" built for disadvantaged people; or in times of natural disasters and pandemics, when the community comes together in solidarity. In difficult times, Binh Duong people always find a way to ensure that no one is left behind. That very unity and compassion have created a unique “Binh Duong spirit”: modern, civilized and full of humanity.
Nguyen Thi Thuy Trang, from Tuong Binh Hiep ward’s quarter 4 in Thu Dau Mot city affirmed: “If someone asks me what I’m most proud of when talking about my hometown Binh Duong, I would say without hesitation: it is a land that is transforming day by day, yet still preserving its compassionate essence—a Binh Duong that is civilized in every street, every corner and in the hearts of the local people”.
It can be affirmed that building a culture of civility is not the responsibility of any single person, but the duty and right of every citizen. Binh Duong has been doing this well, not only through planning and investment, but through the unity, self-awareness and compassion of the local community. In the hearts of many, the name “Binh Duong” is always filled with love. It is believed that if each person contributes even a small part to building a civilized lifestyle, then not only Binh Duong but any place can become a worth-living land. And that Binh Duong is not just a place to live, but faith, pride and an inseparable part of our hearts...
