*Garment-textile sector launches campaign to support northern region
In recent days, Di An city’s Labor Union has actively launched a program to support storm and flood-affected people in the northern provinces among trade union locals, officials, trade unionists and workers at factories. The program has received positive response from individuals, trade union locals and businesses.
According to Doan Nam Le Thien, Vice Chairman of Di An city’s Labor Union, initial reports indicated that the local trade union locals have contributed over VND 500 million along with many tons of goods and essential supplies to provincial Fatherland Front Committee and provincial Labor Union’s accounts. Individuals and trade union locals will continue participating in the campaign in the coming days. Notably, through the efforts by Da An city’s Labor Union, the directorate of Nam Viet Food and Beverage Joint Stock Company in Da An city’s Tan Banh ward has provided hundreds of tons of essential goods for people in storm and flood-affected areas. These items include rice, essential supplies and disinfectant to clean contaminated water sources after the floods, along with products from the company, with a total value of up to VND 9 billion. These supplies will be directly transported by the company to storm-hit provinces in the northern region, including Tuyen Quang, Lao Cai, Yen Bai and Phu Tho on September 16.
*On the morning of September 15, Binh Duong Garment-Textile Industry Trade Union held a mid-autumn festival for 131 children of workers with difficult circumstances at provincial Labor Culture Center in Thuan An city’s An Phu ward. These children received gifts, including mooncakes, candies and lanterns.
Prior to the mid-autumn festival, Binh Duong Textile Industry Trade Union launched a fund raising campaign to support those affected by Yagi typhoon among trade unionists and workers. Dang Thi Kim Chi, Chairwoman of Binh Duong Textile Industry Trade Union, called on trade unionists and workers to join hands and contribute to helping food and storm-affected people in the northern region overcome their difficulties. The practical spiritual and material support is a source of great motivation with profound humanitarian significance, helping storm and flood-affected people to quickly stabilize their lives.
