As a Women’s Union cadre, Ms. Nguyen Thien Lai (image), vice chief of Women’s Union branch of quarter 1, Phu Tan ward, TDM City, has promoted exemplary role, overcome difficulties to better her living, and fulfilled the role of a union branch cadre.

Implementing Directive 03 of the Politburo regarding promoting learning, following the moral example of President Ho Chi Minh, Ms. Lai has joined hands with union branch’s executive committee to organize effectively emulation movements. Some movements have brought practical effects, such as: “raising piggy-bank”, “compassionate rice jar”. Propaganda of thrift practicing for fund raising as well as helping disadvantaged women was performed carefully. Thereby, female members perceived meanings of these models; then 100% members responded actively to this movement. The branch receives monthly hundreds kilogram of rice from local women for helping disadvantaged ones. On big holidays, branch members open piggy-banks to buy gifts for poor children.

 Ms. Lai said, in order for members to respond to movements, first of all, union cadres have to be an example. Previously, Ms. Lai and family lived on farming; their life was difficult. In recent years, due to the rapid urbanization process in the locality, she utilized her front land to grow vegetables and chicken to save costs of living and earn extra income. 

Life was improved, branch members have involved actively in movements, charity activities, and promoted their role in family to build happy, wealthy family. Therefore, the branch has obtained the title of Excellent Women’s Union branch in many years. Ms. Lai also fulfilled well her duties and praised by higher levels.
