There stays a meaningful program helping the disables to rehabilitate in community. The coordinators come to houses to support them with physical therapy before forwarding them to higher level clinic. Mr. Le Van Do is speaking to a medical agent before heading to the patients’ home We visited family of Mrs. Nguyen Thi Anh Nguyet residing at Dinh An Commune, Dau Tieng District to see through her child named Nguyen Thi Anh Hong, 44, a mental patient.“She gets pissed off for sometimes but most of the time she just smile without talking. It has been 46 years by now but we could not treat her. Luckily enough to be surported by local coordinators,” said Mrs. Nguyen Thi Anh Nguyet.Meantime, at Dinh An Commune, medical coordinators come to each house to help people. Mr. Tran Nghiem, born in 1964, residing at Chien Thang Hamlet, has worked as a medical coordinator for 10 years to support tens of disables at home.“In 1978, I was in army service in Cambodian battle field. In 1986, I was injured before returning home to get married. We have no children. It was so sad staying at home, thus, I went out and support others in worse situations. Helping others is to help yourself,” said Mr. Tran Nghiem.On and on, Mr. Tran Nghiem participated into many other community medical programs.Mr. Le Van Do, Residing at An Phuoc Hamlet of Dinh An Commune, has 14 years working as a medical coordinators. He is now taking care for a mental patient who now could be his own feeding and care. Mr. Le Van Do keeps visiting his patients to support with physical therapy.“The silent work of local medical coordinators plays an important part in rehabilitation of the disadvantaged people,” asserted Physician Lai Van Thang who is now manager of Rehabilitation Department of Provincial Hospital of Function Rehabilitation.Reported by Quynh Nhu – Translated by Vi Bao
