A significant Spring for migrant laborers

Over the past years, with a rapid pace of industrial development, Binh Duong has welcomed many young laborers throughout the country to work at local industrial parks and compounds. Laborers along with businesses contribute to local economic development.

In the past Tet holiday, Binh Duong had more than 150,000 workers enjoying Tet away from home. However, they felt warm when receiving great attention from businesses by various forms such as year-end parties, New Year Eve parties, Tet gift granting and many more.

With the purpose of bringing Tet holiday for more than 50 migrant laborers, Showa Gloves Vietnam Co.Ltd. in VSIP I held a New Year Eve party on Jan. 30 night at the company. Herein, migrant laborers joined in a musical show and enjoyed Tet gifts and lucky money from the company trade union. Yuji Tokuoka, general director of the company said that this was the second year the company held the year-end party for laborers who could not afford to come back their homeland for Tet holiday. This annual activity is to take care of migrant workers' spiritual life and share difficulties with laborers.

For migrant workers, their biggest wish is to reunite relatives on Tet holiday. However, owing to difficult living, more than 650 migrant laborers of Yazaki Company were forced to welcome Tet away from home. In order to encourage them, the company held a meeting for them with many games of lucky draw and musical performance.

Meanwhile, Thien Nam Investment and Development JSC had more than 400 migrant workers staying for Tet. In order to help migrant laborers enjoy a warm Tet holiday, the company directorate organized a New Year's Eve party at the company tenement. Herein, migrant workers enjoyed karaoke singing contest and lucky money.

Paying tribute to laborers

2013 was the year with many challenges and much significance for Chi Hung Co.Ltd in Thai Hoa township, Tan Uyen district. The company is home to more than 7,000 laborers. In the past Tet holiday, the company had more than 600 migrant workers who stayed for Tet. Before Tet, the company trade union held a year-end party to pay tribute to laborers and a lucky draw program with over 430 gifts worth nearly VND400mil. In addition, the company supported 50% of price of bus ticket for 480 migrant workers.

Additionally, the company trade union donated 100 gifts each worth VND500,000 to migrant workers who stayed for Tet and 26 other gifts to sick laborers. On this occasion, the company trade union in cooperation with Thai Hoa township People's Committee held a festival for laborers, poor people and students who could not afford to come back their homes for Tet.

At Wanek Company, more than 5,000 employees participated in the year-end party with many various activities of lucky draw and musical show. 

"The year-end party is to pay tribute to laborers who contribute to the company's success", Wanek Company general director Thomas Kong said.

Tet gifts and year-end parties held by companies helped migrant laborers feel warmer on the Tet holiday. Businesses made the effort to help migrant workers ease homesickness.
