Thursday, 20/01/2011

It takes 4-5 hours for tourists from Binh Duong to arrive in the Mekong Della province of An Giang’s Long Xuyen City and more 20 minutes to come My Hoa Hung commune’s Ong Ho islet. The islet hosts the house of president Ton Duc Thang, known also as Bac (Uncle) Ton. The house was built in 1887 and recognized as a national heritage site in 1984.

On the occasion of the 110th anniversary of President Ton Duc Thang, An Giang provincial people opened a commemorative area and Uncle Ton Temple on an area of 6.7ha.

Of these, a commemorative house of Uncle Ton is restored according to the original copy (photo 1). The house’s inside has a set of furniture that Uncle Ton and his family used to utilize (photo 2). The house’s middle is an altar and portrait of Uncle Ton’s parents (photo 3). Uncle Ho commemorative temple is built on an area of 1,600sqm (photo 4). The temple’s sanctum is an Uncle Ton’s bronze stature (photo 5).

Next to the house is a veritable museum with many items attached to his life and work (photo 6).
