The movement of studying and following Uncle Ho in enterprises has been implemented by trade unions at all levels through emulation movements "Good Labor - Creative Labor", "Golden Hand", " Developing initiatives and improving techniques”… Thereby, many workers have proved the will to be self-reliant, regularly innovates machinery and equipment to improve labor efficiency. Nguyen Van Thuong (Head of Design Department, Asama Yuh Jiun International Vietnam Company, Song Than Industrial Park 2) is such an example.
From passion…
With exploration, self-learning and creativity, in recent years, Nguyen Van Thuong, has come up with initiatives and technical improvements not only to increase labor productivity but also to bring great economic benefit for his company. Over more than 15 years working for Asama Yuh Jiun International Vietnam Company, Thuong has had initiatives and technical solutions for new product design applied into production at the company, improving labor efficiency, bringing great economic benefit, are appreciated by the Directors Board and customers.
Most recently, he contributed to the company's project "Automatic surface treatment crane", which shortens operation time and saves labor for workers. Talking about his initiatives and creativity, Thuong said that in order to have ideas and technical improvements, it is important to be passionate about the profession, always be close, and grasp inadequacies of production activities. “As the head of design department, I understand difficulties of workers. I told my team members that as working if they encounter difficult operations and waste too much time, they should study it and come up with ideas, then discuss in groups to summarize and give the best idea, only then, it will bring high efficiency", Thuong said.
Creativity to be self-reliant
2021 is a difficult period for the business community because of the Covid-19. The disease prevention control and production maintenance performed at the same time greatly affected the production progress, as well as the purchase and import of new machinery, hiring foreign experts... In Binh Duong, at the end of 2020 and the first months of 2021, while many businesses faced difficulties due to lack of orders, at Asama Yuh Jiun International Vietnam Company, the number of orders remained stable and even increased. However, the company had only one manual surface treatment machine. Therefore, meeting the quantity of orders was a problem that the company's directors board needed to solve.
Nguyen Van Thuong, said that the company's board of directors planned to hire foreign experts coming to Vietnam to do an additional surface treatment tank. However, due to the Covid-19 outbreak, this encountered many difficulties, had to be postponed, while many orders needed to be done to keep up with the schedule. His design team was given the opportunity to solve this problem, from ideation to construction plan of items, all by themselves.
Thuong carried out research and proposed the initiative of cranes with automatic surface treatment. After the idea was presented, his idea received unanimous support and approval of Directors Board. His idea was based on the principle of manual hoisting, with electrical boards that need to adjust the touch-sensitive eye system to recognize products and control it by touch. The team reached agreement from drawing stage to construction process; but challenges posed by the pandemic and customer's progress requirements, along with new difficulties arising in the implementation process, the team was forced to re-calculate and make another adjustment. Thuong was undeterred, researched and supervised the construction day and night, then after more than a month, the automatic crane for surface treatment was completed and put into use, bringing high efficiency.
The crane automatically operates itself to put the product into the surface treatment water tank, contributing to reducing the number of workers. Instead of four manual operators, now only one operator is needed, avoiding further close contacts in the pandemic situation, while meeting the production schedule as well as expectations of the company's board of directors, reducing the cost of hiring foreign experts, benefiting more than 1 billion VND/year for the company.
At that time, the biggest difficulty to Thuong was finding construction materials due to the complicated disease situation. “Fortunately, I always receive the support of the Directors Board; at the same time, colleagues also helped me a lot. This was not my own initiative, but this is of all my colleagues who united to contribute to it. Therefore, this is an achievement of the whole team," Thuong said.
Thuong's efforts and initiatives have been recognized by the company. In addition to the encouragement and reward of the Directors Board, Thuong was also commended by trade unions at all levels for his outstanding results in the movement "Good labor, creative labor".
