Installing wifi in 29 public places
Currently, the trend of using smart mobile devices for registering administrative procedures, looking up information, checking in... is increasing. This requires the devices to be regularly connected online. For a long time, the lack of public wifi to find information has made it difficult for people living in the city. Therefore, Tan Uyen city’s People's Committee has installed free wifi spots to cover the whole city.

This job has formed up a habit of people with regular exercise in the park and free internet access. After being installed free wifi, the local parks have lured a large number of people of all ages in the mornings or evenings.

Since the installation of the wifi network, people in the area have gathered to the park every day. Nguyen Thi Ba, a resident in quarter 1’s group 1 in Uyen Hung ward said: "Earlier, I and many people in the quarter had to install 3G and 4G SIM cards to access the internet, so I used them sparingly. Now, the park has free wifi, so people can easily access the internet without spending money with strong connection. Meanwhile, Pham Thi Man, residing in quarter 3 said: “I see that the installation of free wifi networks in parks very practical and meaningful for people in the current digital age. Thanks to the wifi network, women's cultural, artistic and sports activities are more exciting, attracting the participation of more members, thereby enhancing the cohesion and solidarity of the people in the neighborhood”.
It is known that the whole city has free wifi coverage at 29 points serving people with all installation costs from socialization. 29 places installed free wifi include one-stop shop in communes and wards, city’s public administrative service center, markets, parks, historical sites... Free wifi coverage helps people connect on-site information quickly and conveniently.
Promoting digital transformation
In the current period, the installation of free wifi network has contributed to improving the spiritual life of people and speeding up digital transformation. Nguyen Thi Kim Nguyen, Vice-Chairwoman of Tan Uyen city’s People's Committee said: “The construction of digital infrastructure and digital database helps people to accompany the city’s government in the process of digital government and smart city construction. Implementing the local plan on digital transformation, Tan Uyen city identifies digital society as one of the top and important criteria, taking people, businesses, and authorities as the center in the process of digital transformation. The goals of the digital society are built on the criteria of placing people closest to the government through digital transformation and information technology. The city has also promoted the provision of smart services for citizens and businesses based on digital infrastructure and digital data. The digital transformation process is inherited from the implementation of e-government and investment in building a private telecommunications network connecting agencies and units”.
Especially, the city has implemented a pilot project on 3 routes with cashless transactions in Uyen Hung ward. This model has been actively responded by people and businesses. As a result, there are many newly registered personal wallet accounts, 116 registration points that accept cashless payments. Tran Thi Cam Tu, Secretary of the Party Committee of Uyen Hung Ward said: “Cashless payment is becoming a trend used by many people. Recently, in the ward, there have been 3 routes with non-cash transactions, gradually changing people's habits in spending, shopping and doing business. This model contributes to the successful implementation of digital transformation in all fields, aiming at building digital government and digital citizens in the future”.
Meanwhile, the city’s Health Center is also digitizing data, images, obtaining patient information through scanning QR codes on social insurance applications, citizen identification cards.
