Activities in response to World Environment Day

*Nearly 300 elderly people get involve in environmental hygiene

Early June 5, the People’s Committee of Tan Uyen town held a ceremony to launch activities on environment hygiene in response to the 2016 World Environment Day and communications campaign against dengue fever, Zika virus and foot-and-mouth disease. 

On this occasion, the People’s Committee of the town provided the People’s Committees of 12 communes and wards with containers for pesticide packages; installed 183 wastebaskets in public places; gave 10 tons of salt for the town’s health center and health stations; donated 300 wastebaskets to households with difficult circumstances in Uyen Hung ward.

After the ceremony, locals swept some main streets in the Biconsi trading-residential area and the town; cleared water inlet sluices…

The town also organized many other significant campaigns, including planting more green plants, making environmental hygiene at preschools, small baby-sitting groups; launching a mosquito larva killing campaign against Zika virus and dengue fever among households and making environmental and personal hygiene to prevent foot-and-mount disease.

After the ceremony, the organizers propagandized and mobilized locals to take measures killing mosquito larva; guided them how to take care of children with foot-and-mouth disease and Zika virus. Localities also mobilized households, firms and pupils to take part in environmental protection…

It is known that before and during the campaign, the town has also organized an inspection delegation to assess and improve shortcomings so that the campaign are able to reach good results, contributing to well realizing environmental protection and prevention of dengue fever, foot-and-mouth disease, Zika virus and other diseases.

*Early June 5, Thuan An town’s Association of the Elderly engaged in environmental hygiene activities with the participation of nearly 300 members.

They actively cleaned up streets in An Son commune’s An Phu, Phu Hung hamlets, An Thanh ward’s Thanh Quy, Thanh Phu quarters with a total length of more than 4,000 meters.

The significant activity aimed to building up a green-clean and nice environment, thereby raising locals’ awareness of environmental protection.
