Adequate supply of clean water for rural people ensured

Carrying out natural disaster prevention and control, management and exploitation of irrigation works, provincial Irrigation Sub-Department has regularly organized inspection of the implementation of anti-drought measures during the dry season, water sources for daily life and regulated irrigation water for production in the province. In 2021, the province’s total irrigated area was 36,911.2 hectares, reaching 99.64% of the plan while total drainage area was 23,515 hectares or 100% of the plan.

Along with that, the unit also informed localities of hydro-meteorological situation, high tide, flood discharge from reservoirs, set up plans against drought and saltwater intrusion. It is known that the province’s irrigation works have so far operated in accordance with the process, ensuring irrigation for agricultural production. The province’s clean water supply works in rural areas have also operated continuously to ensure sufficient supply of clean water for people’s daily life. As of now, the salinity on Saigon River has not affected people’s daily life and agricultural production yet.
