Update: 09-12-2010 | 00:00:00

In the evening of December 08, Vietnam team survived a dead match against Singapore in final competition of B table and the final match of qualifying round.

Vietnam team set off in formation chaos for Trong Hoang and goalie Tan Truong had to play in substitution to injured Tan Tai and Duong Hong Son. Despite bad line-up, Vietnam team played a perfect team match against Singapore. Trong Hoang’s outstanding performance brought about the first and final score. In 31 minutes, in a sharp offensive situation, Vietnam team thrusted through defense of sea lions and scored. Thanh Luong and Trong Hoang passes create good space for Vu Phong to defeat Singaporean goalie Sunny in face-to-face situation.

However, in the 64 minutes, striker Trong Hoang received his second yellow cards and put Vietnam squad into and dead or alive confrontation. The final minutes of the match, Vietnam retreat all to defensive lines against angry wounded lions. 6-minute injury time is so long for Vietnam squad in defending their only goal. Thus, the stadium almost burst into pieces when the Thai referee whistled to end 90-minute breathe-taking match.

Singapore is disqualified for losing points to Vietnam team which came first in Table B and later on will face Malaysia in semi-finals. The other pair in semi-finals is Indonesia and Philippines.
