Agro-forestry-aquatic exports increase by 57.6 percent

Update: 28-02-2011 | 00:00:00

Agro-forestry and aquatic exports gained a total turnover of US$2.84 billion in the first two months of 2011, 57.6 percent above the same period in 2010.

Rubber topped the list with its turnover increasing 2.75 times.

Those results were due to increased prices of many export goods, including cashew nuts (up 30.8 percent), coffee (39.5 percent) and rubber (71.25 percent).

Rice exports rose considerably to 800,000 tonnes, earning US$400 million. The Vietnam Food Association predicts that the country will export about 1.6 million tonnes of rice by the end of the first quarter this year. The price of rice continues to rise, creating favourable conditions for exporters.
