In response to Action Month for Children, grassroots Trade Unions cooperated with enterprises to spend hundreds of millions VND to organize entertainment activities, give study-encouragement gifts to workers' children. This meaningful work created a playful and healthy playground for children of workers, and strengthened worker’s commitment to businesses.
A summer for children
In summer, while public schools are on summer holidays, some private schools still open to receive worker’s children. These are schools for worker’s children that were invested by companies such as: Hai My Company - Saigon Factory, Shyang Hung Cheng Company, International Garment Company, Yazaki EDS Company. Every day, when their friends take a vacation, visit grandparents, or travel with parents, children of workers still go to school for their parents to go to work.
To create a happy and rewarding summer for worker’s children, these schools planned for study and play programs so that children could feel the difference between school days and summer days. For example, kindergarten of Hai My Company - Saigon Factory with more than 400 children, in this summer, opened a "Children's Day", created opportunities for children to experience extracurricular activities, like life skill training and knowledge competitions with questions about familiar things in life with animals, toys, family relationships...
Sao Bac Dau Kindergarten and Trade Union give presents to poor-but-excellent worker’s children on occasion of International Children Day.
Kindergarten 28-7, a school for worker’s children in Ben Cat town, also welcomed and took care of children during this summer. With learning and playing activities, this summer, children also have beautiful memories and good experiences. Accordingly, they took part in fun activities at the school; received trainings on life skills and exercise classes that helped reduce obesity rates in children.
Meaningful gifts
On summer days, it was very meaningful when grassroots trade unions organized activities for worker’s children. When the summer came, grassroots trade unions planned to organize many fun activities for worker’s children. It is a common thought that trade union officials in companies want to do for the young generation of labor force. For example, Triumph Vietnam Company (Di An town) hosted a "Children’s Day" for more than 1,000 children. The festival comprised of performance of famous singers and brought cheerful melodies and joy to children. There were also performances of workers. The children at the festival took part in folk games and received gifts to encourage their learning spirit. In particular, 104 children of difficult workers received gifts, each worth VND 500,000. With that money, they had some money to buy books for the new school year.
Depending on specific conditions of each company, "Children’s Days" were hosted diversely by provincial enterprises on occasion this year’s International Children Day (the launching day of Action month for children). Shyang Hung Cheng Company (Thuan An town) organized a playground for children on June 22. Nguyen Minh Hoang, Trade Union Chairman of the company, said that taking good care of worker’s children was a practical deed for workers of the company to have a strong commitment, help they focus on their job. Therefore, the company built a kindergarten for their worker’s children. The company often supports worker’s children suffering from serious diseases. This year, during the Children's Action Month, trade union presented over 600 gifts to worker’s children.
