All pupils to go to schools

Update: 12-08-2013 | 00:00:00
In recent years, some localities in Thuan An town and Di An town have suffered many pressures in the admission season, especially first grade admission. The number of pupils has increased rapidly whilst schools have lacked strong development, making primary schools face many obstacles in classroom arrangement. We had an interview with Mrs. Nguyen Hong Sang, vice director of the provincial department of Education and Training about this problem. As expected, the provincial sector of education and training will have additional about 24,000 pupils at all levels in the school year of 2013-2014. So will schools in the province have enough seats for all pupils, madam? As a rapidly growing locality plus a strong immigration, the number of pupils also increases along. In this academic year, we forecast a strong increase on the number of pupils but this increase is out of our forecast, especially, pupils at primary level. The sector annually enjoys budget for developing material facility. However, owing to a rapid rise of the quantity of pupils, we face many difficulties in the admission season. To offer enough seats for all pupils, schools have taken advantaged of all functional rooms and even meeting rooms to arrange classrooms for pupils. Many schools have cut half-boarding program and taught 2 sessions per day. The number of pupils will increase in every classroom, will this impact on quality of teaching and learning, madam?Teaching 2 sessions per day is to improve the quality of education and simultaneously satisfy parents' demand. However, owing rapid increase on immigrant pupils at some localities, some schools have had to increase quantity of pupils in all classrooms. The sector has set out many measures to maintain quality of education.Could you tell about measures solving shortage of classrooms and teachers caused by the increase? Anticipating this status, we have set out plans to recruit additional teachers for localities. In this school year the sector recruits more 2,100 teachers, 931 of whom are primary teachers. At present, the sector is under admission consideration. The sector also allows schools to sign contracts with retired teachers. In addition, the department has submitted allowance plans to the provincial People's Council to ensure quality of meals at half-boarding schools. Before the new school year starts, the sector has mapped out plans on equipping material facilities in service for the new teaching method. With these efforts, 100% of pupils will have enough seats in this new school year, madam?Certainly, local or immigrant pupils, all of them will enjoy seats in the upcoming school year. At present, schools have basically completed admission. Thanks a lot!Reported by A.Sang - Translated by A.C
