An industrial leverage from northern districts

Update: 07-02-2020 | 17:10:16

In recent years, with the orientation, leadership, direction and administration of Provincial Party Committee, People's Council and People's Committee and the consent of people, northern districts of the province strive to develop industrial parks and clusters to attract investment. Thanks to industrial development, these localities have shifted their economic structure towards increasing proportion of trade and services, associated with adjusting urban planning, laying a solid foundation for the future.

Breakthrough from a less fertile land

Over time, the brand name of Binh Duong industrial parks has become more and more spreading, an attractive destination for investors. It is this, along with many other great resources from infrastructure and policies, that make the northern industrial zones more and more advantageous. The effectiveness of the policy on moving industrial production to provincial northern area has contributed to the uniform development of urban face, trade - services, and improving the quality of local people lives

More than 10 years ago, people could easily recognize that the construction sites of industrial complexes in the northern districts were just large thousands-of-hectare areas and poorly fertile agricultural land. But then, industrial parks and clusters have quickly appeared with many large projects with thousands of factories and workshops. Infrastructure and urban areas in the northern areas also support industrial production, namely Bau Bang and North Tan Uyen districts are emerging as bright spots and are becoming strategic areas in investment attraction and economic development of the province.

KBS industrial park makes an important contribution to the economic growth of North Tan Uyen district.

With the planning towards industrial development combined with modern, civilized, convenient and highly integrated with urban areas in the province, Bau Bang district creates many advantages in attracting investment. Particularly, Bau Bang industrial park has an area of over 2,000 hectares, of which 1,000 hectares are for industrial development, more than 1,000 hectares for services and urban areas. Currently, 100% of industrial land in this industrial park has been leased by investors, mainly from the US, Japan, Taiwan (China) and Italy. In particular, there are prestigious international enterprises such as Kisswire, Hotta VN, Sun Wood Vina, Suk Mono...

Bau Bang now has a well-connected transport system with a total investment of thousands of billion VND. In the district, there are key traffic works to connect districts, towns and city in the province, like National Highway 1A, National Highway 13 connecting with Dong Nai, Ho Chi Minh City, and Belt road 4 and 5. In particular, My Phuoc - Tan Van road connected with Long Thanh International Airport is a thoughtful preparation in inviting investors to the northern industrial zones for long-term production and business.

As assessing the favorable investment environment here, many businesses believed that Bau Bang had very good infrastructure, a complete transportation network - this is a very important condition for freight business. Lee Kap Soo, General Director of KyungBang Vietnam Company, said that besides the favorable factors of policy and human resources, infrastructure and services are very important as selecting investment destinations. This area has a good transport system, trade - services grow fast. The company has favorable conditions in manufacturing, supplying high quality cotton yarn for textile companies in Vietnam and for export.

Similarly, with a strong industry development, synchronous transportation infrastructure and a transparent development planning policy, North Tan Uyen district has been a new growth pole of the province. In recent years, the district's economy has maintained stable growth rate at a high level and has had a strong shift towards industry, trade and services. According to the plan, after 2020, the total area of industrial parks and urban areas in the district would be around 2,208 hectares with 5 industrial parks and 1 industrial cluster.

Transport infrastructure to be synchronously connected

The motive power for the development of North Tan Uyen district is the increasingly synchronous and modern connected transportation infrastructure. The strategies to attract investment were quickly improved by the province and the district, together with preferential policies, to welcome investors.

According to Ngo Trong Nghia, General Director of KBS Company - the investor of KBS Industrial Park, the reality shows that where there is fast industrial development and many laborers, the demands for accommodation, shopping, entertainment there would also grow. KSB is the pioneer investor in North Tan Uyen by investing in KBS Industrial Park project. This industrial park was synchronously planned, invested in complete infrastructure works to facilitate the industrial growth, at the same time, contributing to changing the urban face and promoting trade - service development. Currently, KBS Industrial Park has 64 projects, reaching the occupancy rate of 99% (total area of 131.29ha).

The commercial and service sector of North Tan Uyen district is growing strongly. Nguyen Thi Thanh, living in Tan Thanh commune, delightedly said: “The government opened roads, lent loans, showed we how to do business, so many families are no longer poor, people here have begun to have food and shelter. Many people from all over the country have come here to live and join hands to turn this poor land into a development area today.”

To create a solid foundation for the future

A sustainable development foundation is being formed in the northern region of the province, as Becamex IDC builds a scientific and technological industrial park in Bau Bang district. According to Nguyen Van Hung, Chairman of Directors Board of Becamex IDC, this is a new model and the success of this project could create a turning point for the southern key economic region. Because in the future, the province will gradually form a high-tech manufacturing ecosystem, opening a knowledge center for the whole region, a dynamic area of the country. Therefore, the construction of a scientific and technological industrial park aims to facilitate the development of the northern region and the high value-added production, while supporting the research and development of science - technology, training of human resources, building a good living environment for experts.

In order to develop green and sustainably, with the available advantages, North Tan Uyen district is orienting towards industrial development in parallel with ecological urban areas. In 2019, the district's economy has maintained stable growth rate at a high level and has had a strong shift towards industry, trade and services. The establishment of industrial zones in the district has brought thousands of experts and workers here to work, resulting in high demand for housing.

On the other hand, the investment in Vietnam - Singapore Industrial Park 3 (VSIP 3) with the purpose of exploiting the land fund advantages after investing in two belt roads 4 and 5, and creating a land fund to implement investment projects according to public - private partnership form. This industrial park connects with VSIP 2 and My Phuoc 1 and 2 industrial zones, establishing a modern industrial and urban development chain along Belt road 4, helping North Tan Uyen develop more strongly in the coming time.

Although the progress is not so fast like the surrounding area, Phu Giao district chooses cautious and sustainable steps suitable to the local reality and conditions. At present, the district has a number of major groups of industries and handicraft industries, such as agricultural product and foodstuff processing; minerals exploiting and processing; production of building materials; wood processing with small and medium scale. In 2019, the district planned 5 industrial clusters with a total area of nearly 300ha.

In Phu Giao district, Hung Hai Thinh Joint Stock Company built a steel refinery and rubber factory to export to the US market with an expected capacity of up to 4 million tires / year. The construction of a standard factory meeting high standards of US partners, laid the foundation for the development of rubber processing industry in a large material-processing area such as Phu Giao, meeting sustainable development requirements.

In Dau Tieng district, besides Thanh An industrial cluster, the district assisted investors to implement An Lap industrial cluster project; cooperated with Dau Tieng Rubber Company to add 2 industrial clusters in Thanh An commune with an area of 150ha. The district continued to collaborated with functional agencies to implement the planning project to expand Bau Bang Industrial Park in the direction towards Long Tan commune with an area of 969 ha, and a project to expand An Dien Industrial Park phase 3 with an area of 381.21 ha in two communes of An Lap and Thanh Tuyen.

With strengths of labor, land, natural resources, Dau Tieng district is expected to attract many investors in industrial production in the direction of modernization, high technology and environmentally friendly. Currently, this district continues to call for investment in urban development in a reasonable and effective manner to facilitate the development of various types of services. From there, creating favorable conditions to attract investment in industrial parks and zones.

With the available potentials and advantages, the industry of provincial northern districts has a great opportunity to run faster in the coming time.
