An opportunity to promote Vietnam's rubber industry
Skillful rubber-tapping workers contest 2014 of Vietnam's rubber industry was held at Phuoc Hoa Rubber Company with the participation of 32 teams and 211 contestants. These were excellent skilled workers representing 110,000 workers of the industry.
Besides the team of Vietnam Laos Rubber Company, there were 3 teams from Laos and Cambodia of Dau Tieng - Vietnam Laos Rubber Company, Quasa – Geruco Rubber Company, Tan Bien - Kampong Thom Rubber Company.
The contests has become a traditional festival of Vietnam's rubber industry, is organized every 2 years. The contest is an opportunity to evaluate, test the skill of rubber-tapping workers, for teams to learn, exchange experiences before entering the annual harvesting season. Contestants are from not only Vietnam Rubber Group (VRG) but also other domestic and foreign units.
The contest comprised two parts, multiple choices test and practice test. In the multiple choices test, candidates must answer 40 questions within 20 minutes. In practice test, candidates must tap 80 rubber trees to get latex within 11 minutes. This year, the practice test was organized at Tan Hung and Phuoc Hoa Rubber Plantation.
VRG’s General Director Tran Ngoc Thuan, who was also head of this year’s organizers, said, because of the participation of foreign teams, this was an opportunity to introduce Vietnamese rubber industry Vietnam to international friends. Particularly, Binh Duong province made good preparation for this contest. In the near future, VRG will continue to invest in the province to develop rubber industry, construct infrastructure, industrial parks, residential areas on the rubber land.
According to the leader of VRG, there are many countries growing rubber trees, but only Vietnam held a rubber-tapping contest with a large scale. This is a unique and cultural characteristic of the rubber industry in Vietnam. In the future, we can invite other countries to be observers at the contest so that we could have the opportunity to introduce the contest to international friends.
Mr. Le Quoc Doanh, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, stressed that agricultural sector is conducting restructuring towards added values increasing and sustainable development. Accordingly, rubber trees are classified as a competitive and profitable plant. Therefore, activities promoting rubber trees are very important and should be focused.
Team of Chu Pah won the first collective and individual prize
Morning 15th December, the ending ceremony of the Skillful rubber-tapping workers contest 2014 of Vietnam's rubber industry was held at The Mira Hotel. International Rubber Research and Development Association‘s General Secretary Dr. Abdul Aziz S.A. Kadit, Business bloc’s Central Party Committee’s Propaganda and Training Commission’s Head Tran Thanh Khe, VRG’s General Director Tran Ngoc Thuan took part in the ceremony.
Awards included 12 collective prizes, 20 individual prizes and many other prizes. Total prize value was about VND700mln. Chu Pah team won the first collective prize worth VND75mln and the first individual prize worth VND45mln. Two second collective prizes belonged to Phuoc Hoa and Phu Rieng team. Dau Tieng, EaHleo, and Chu Prong team got third collective prizes. In the individual category, Tran Van Duong of Chu Pah team won the first prize, Mai Van Phien of Phuoc Hoa team took the second one, and Nguyen Thi Xuyen of Chu Prong team got the third one.
