Animated activities respond to Earth Hour Campaign

In response to the Earth Hour 2023 Campaign, the electricity sector has cooperated with provincial Youth Union to organize many activities calling for people to economically use energy in order to combat climate change, protect natural resources and the environment.

Forming up electricity saving habit

Le Hong Khanh, Deputy Director of Binh Duong Power Company said that the Earth Hour 2023 Campaign will be conducted simultaneously on a global scale on Saturday (from 20:30 to 21:00 on March 25). The company has required units to strengthen communication activities and actively participate in responding to the theme of "Saving electricity into a habit" so that people can participate in.

Particularly, leaders of units will coordinate with trade unions to launch, propagandize and mobilize all officials and employees to actively participate and voluntarily turn off unnecessary lights and electrical equipment at their headquarters and families during the event; post propaganda contents on saving electricity and responding to the Earth Hour 2023 Campaign through photos, video clips, scrolling text on screens, websites, fanpages, social networks Facebook, Zalo...of the units.

“Binh Duong Power Company will organize mobile propaganda for the Earth Hour 2023 by motorbikes, cars on main roads, squares, in social housing areas and at markets, supermarkets…The company will also send open letters and emails, messages via customer care information channels to agencies, enterprises, customers using electricity to propagandize the event, asking for them to turn off unnecessary electrical equipment during the period from 20:30 to 21:30 on March 25", said Mr. Khanh.

According to Mr. Khanh, the company will also cooperate with provincial Youth Union to deploy other many practical activities such as cycling on main streets in urban areas; organizing contests, playgrounds and festivals "Learning about safe, economical and efficient use of electricity", “Energy saving - Environmental protection” in schools..., actively contributing to the overall success of the province in saving energy, protecting the environment and combating climate change.

Many activities in response

Thai Kien Thuan, Head of provincial Youth Union’s Movement Department, Permanent Vice-Chairman of provincial Youth Federation said that provincial Youth Union Standing Board has coordinated with Binh Duong Power Company to organize deep, wide propaganda and response, raising awareness, roles and responsibilities of Youth Union members and people from all strata for activities of protecting natural resources, the environment, saving energy and combating climate change; mobilize organizations, agencies and people to participate in activities of the campaign.

At Aeon Mall in Thuan An city, provincial Youth Union has just held a ceremony in response to the Earth Hour 2023 campaign, in attendance of about 400 Youth Union members and representatives of Binh Duong Power Company. This year, the Earth Hour Campaign has received response from more than 7,000 cities in 172 countries around the world with 2.2 billion people who will turn off lights during the hour through social media networks.

Vietnam has started responding to the Earth Hour Campaign since 2008. Over the past time, Binh Duong also responded to the event by many diverse and creative activities, including propagandizing and mobilizing people to turn off their motorbikes’ engines for 25 seconds or more during the time of red light stop at key intersections and crossroads; establishing youth volunteer cycling squads to respond to the Earth Hour campaign on main streets; distributing propaganda leaflets on environmental protection, reducing plastic waste and mobilizing people to litter in the right places; saving water, power and other energy sources.

Especially, provincial Youth Union will organize a parade by bicycles to propagandize and respond to the campaign; build and launch propaganda video clips, organize a propaganda drawing contest, a "Dancing for the green planet" contest...
