Apparel export turnover reaches US$5.1bln in 5 months

Update: 08-06-2011 | 00:00:00

According to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the garment and textile sector’s export turnover over the past five months was estimated at US$5.1bln.

The sector has seen stable production and continued gaining growth in terms of garment, but faced hindrance in material sources. Purchasing power in the domestic market has still continued seeing decrease compared to last year’s same period.

To redress the above situation, garment & textile businesses has boosted production and make negotiation with their partners to raise the price of export products; actively promoted exports to balance their foreign currency source for importing production materials; implemented many activities to retake the domestic market shares, including saving production costs, opening hi-quality fashion shops with reasonable prices; continued to promote the programs “Vietnamese people give priority to using Vietnamese goods”, “Bringing Vietnamese goods to the countryside”.
