Many products reaching 3 stars or more

The National Target Program on new-style rural construction has received a positive response of people from all strata. As of now, the whole province has had 29 out of 41 communes reaching advanced new-style rural standards. Along with that, the province’s agricultural sector will strengthen inspection, support and guidance for the implementation of building model, advanced new-style rural communes towards a smart rural area in the 2021-2025 period; organize training courses on improving capacity to implement the OCOP program for cadres and producers in districts, towns and cities; recheck, effectively and flexibly apply policies to support the development of agriculture, rural areas, high-tech agriculture, create an open mechanism, promoting production development and calling for investment to develop agricultural production towards hi-tech agricultural models…

In addition, the OCOP program has been strongly implemented, creating a great impetus for business entities to promote production and business, creating jobs and improving incomes for local workers, thereby contributing to economic development in rural areas. So far, Binh Duong has had 47 products with the OCOP certification from 3 stars or more, and there have been 31 business entities having products with the OCOP certification. Among them, there are 8 4-star products and 39 3-star products. After reaching the OCOP standards, many products have had increase in sales, contributing to improving profits.

Nguyen Phong Huy, Head of provincial Rural Development Sub-Department said that OCOP products have initially aroused the potential and strong points of products, raw materials and local laborers. These products have constantly improved in quality and design in order to enhance their values and competitive advantages. In the coming time, Binh Duong will continue effectively implementing the OCOP program with orientations to 2030, focusing on upgrading products, developing products from traditional craft villages and products with the local potential and advantages; strengthen support, study regulations and guide entities with products participating in the OCOP program to implement proofs, regularly review and detect potential products... to mobilize entities to join in the program.

Improving quality

Pham Van Bong, Director of provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Development said that provincial People's Committee has just issued a plan on implementing provincial OCOP program in the 2021-2025 period. The objectives are to further improve the quality of OCOP products, arouse potential and advantages in rural areas, increase incomes for locals, contributing to restructuring agricultural sector in association with home industry and rural tourism while preserving cultural values, protecting rural landscape and environment and making digital transformation, developing forms of production and business organization, contributing to  building new-style rural areas in depth, efficiency and sustainability.

Particularly, by 2025, the province will strive to have additional 150 OCOP products recognized with 3 stars or more. Among them, the province will try to have additional 50 products with 4 stars or more; consolidate and upgrade at least 50% of products that have been evaluated and graded, giving priority to developing OCOP products in association with product brands, promoting rural tourism services; prioritize the development of cooperatives, small and medium-sized enterprises; strive to have at least 40% of OCOP subjects being cooperatives, 30% being small and medium-sized enterprises; have at least 20% of OCOP subjects  with value chains toward circular economy, green OCOP associated with a stable raw material area. Of these, priority is given to OCOP products that have been evaluated and classified. There will be at least 50% of traditional craft villages with OCOP products, contributing to preserving and developing traditional craft villages.

In addition, the province will strive to reach at least 20% in the percentage of trained workers with appropriate degrees and certificates working for OCOP subjects; have at least 40% of female OCOP subjects, at least 20% of OCOP subjects being ethnic minorities; reach 50% of OCOP subjects participating in modern sales channels; build and effectively operate provincial OCOP Program’s database system; digitize 100% of records of products assessed and classified.

On the basis of the achieved results, based on the Prime Minister's decision approving the OCOP Program and the Rural Tourism Development Program in the construction of new rural areas in the 2021-2025 period, Binh Duong will further implement the OCOP program for the period of 2021-2025, which is flexible and suitable towards developing product value chains in association with the local raw material area. Accordingly, the program will focus on developing specialties and traditional products, upholding cultural values, forming up multi-value integrated products in association with advantages in terms of the local production conditions.
