As factory workers volunteer to prevent Covid-19 epidemic
During the outbreak of the Covid-19 epidemic, some companies and enterprises in the province had to suspend their production. At this time, many workers also had to temporarily stop working and they pioneered to join the local fight against the epidemic to demonstrating the role of the working class in their contribution to quickly control and repel the Covid-19 epidemic to return to the “new norma statel” at the soonest.
Job postponement for Covid-19 epidemic prevention and control
For nearly 2 months now, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Trung has always been present in the quarantine area at An Thanh Primary School in Thuan An city to be in a position of a volunteer. At this quarnatine location, about 300 F0 being monitored and treated as Trung's duty is to assist in cleaning, distributing rice, disinfecting spray and supporting patients to breathe oxygen if needed. In this quarantine area, few people know that Trung is a factory worker working at the company in the industrial park for many years. From An Giang to Binh Duong for work in nearly a decade, as many positive cases of Covid-19 in the locality emerged, Trung wanted to do something to contribute to the prevention and control of the Covid-19 epidemic. Therefore, Trung wrote a letter of resignation at the company with some clothes prepared and went into the quarantine area as a volunteer in a bid to reduce the burden on the medical forces.

Like many other volunteers, Trung has not yet determined the date when he will return to normal work. For 2 months in the quarantine area, the luggage that Trung brought with him was a worker's health and enthusiasm. When asked about living far from home in difficulties without trying to work to earn extra income, Trung said: "Money can't be earned now, it can be another time. I'm still young, I can't stand by and watch the medical forces having to work hard to take care of the sick without any help of mine. Fighting the epidemic is like fighting the enemy, when the epidemic comes, we have to go and fight!"
For peace of mind at his family, Trung showed the meaning of his actions to make his whole family gradually understand, sympathize and offer conditions for him to participate and complete his work. Trung said: “If I get infected, I will never feel regret. Coming in here means there will be a risk of infection but I am not afraid of that. It's fun to volunteer for the community."
A wish for a bit of contribution
Not a volunteer in the quarantine area like Trung, Mr. Nguyen Phu Thinh from Binh Thuan 2 neighborhood of Thuan Giao ward in Thuan An city participated in the fight against the epidemic by registering for support at the quarantine checkpoints. Born in Tra Vinh, Thinh went to Binh Duong to work for 8 years and then got married, trying his best to settle down. When the company at work had to suspend production due to the impact of the epidemic, Thinh was also a little sad when he thought that he would be unemployed in the coming days. Meanwhile, the Youth Union in the neighborhood has called for volunteers to participate in the fight against the Covid-19 epidemic; knowing the news, Thinh discussed with his wife to join immediately.
Nearly a month ago, it was easy to see Nguyen Phu Thinh standing at a checkpoint in Thuan Giao residential area; sometimes, Thinh was assigned to stand at a checkpoint near market place 185. Thinh said: “I am a worker of youthful energy, I cannot ignore when the whole nation is struggling against the Covid-19 pandemic, I joined the stand with the desire to join hands to defeat this dangerous epidemic. Instead of confining myself at home, I felt that I should do something more meaningful, so I applied to join the fight against the epidemic. There were hot days and sometimes it's rainy and windy, but we persisted; if everyone is afraid of difficulties and sufferings, who would participate in the fight against the epidemic?"
Despite facing many dangers, the volunteer workers against the epidemic did not mind the hardships but day and night staying with the frontline forces. They just hold on to the hope that with a little bit of their strength, they would contribute to repel the epidemic at the soonest so that they, as well as the frontline doctors and nurses, can return to their families and the people will live in a safe environment without any worries.
