ASIAD 17: Vietnamese marksmen bag first medals

The shooting team of Hoang Xuan Vinh, Nguyen Hoang Phuong and Tran Quoc Cuong on September 20 brought the first bronze medal in the men’s team 50m slow fire pistol event to the Vietnamese sports delegations attending the 17th Asian Games (ASIAD 17) in Incheon, the Republic of Korea (RoK) while Phuong also took silver in the men’s individual event.
The Vietnamese team was defeated by the RoK team, who took silver with 1,670 points, in the last shoots by Vinh and Cuong. China won the championship with 1,692 points.
Meanwhile, Phuong failed to shoot away with the gold medal in the individual event after surpassing such world-ranking marksmen as Jin Jong-Oh and Pang Wei to join the final event.
Phuong continued to surpass Wang Zhi Mei (China) but in the final shoot, he just gained 5.8 points and snatched the silver medal. Rai Jitu from India bagged the gold medal in this event.
